Melodic metalcore band Undawn recently announced the release of “Solidarity” EP which will be released on Nov. 16th. Before the release-date Undawn will release a music video for the track ‘Implode’
How do you keep yourself happy and resilient in a world full of (apparent) perfection?
SOLIDARITY; break through your negative patterns, In an era in which our ego and individualism prevail, we demand the maximum from ourselves. We want to grow, achieve goals and get the most out of our lives. We work harder, set the bar higher than ever and we compare ourselves with the greatest.
Yet the drive for perfection also has a downside. We only see the beautiful peak moments around us, but we also see the deep valleys and the misery that you sometimes have to get through to where you want to be? When we compare our lives with those of others, our own lives sometimes seem far from perfect. Because of this we live more and more in our head and less in the now. Negative patterns arise that prevent us from growing and really enjoying what lies ahead.
Solidarity is about breaking through these negative patterns. The burden that you can experience with eternal doubts about decisions, living in your comfort zone and being stuck in the past. Sometimes you don’t even realize it, but it hinders your further development. Break through the patterns so that you can continue to grow in your life. Become solidarity again … towards yourself.

After the second album “Justice Is …” was released in 2015, the band had a busy period. The band played 2 times at 3FM, played in supporting programs for While She Sleeps, Soulfly and Sonic Syndicate and participated in the Pop Round. After that the band did tours through Germany, Austria and Belgium, among others.
Inspiration in a difficult time
Undawn had a difficult and eventful year during the Solidarity recording process. How do we keep ourselves happy and resilient in a (metal) world in which judgments are made quickly? In which one YouTube comment can destroy your entire soul and salvation? The band also sought (apparent) perfection and struggled with the expectations that exist within the subgenres of metal. Are our songs still “metalcore enough”? And that was precisely what inspired me to write this album.
Musical boundaries were explored and songs were written from the heart. Again, show solidarity with yourself. Become who you are. That’s how Solidarity was born. Five songs, where the band has taken everything out of what is now in it. No concessions, only songs of the highest possible level.
