“Grief” Credits:
“Grief’s” journey began on March 28th, 2023. This was the day Cameron arrived. Delivered premature at 19 weeks, his little body could not sustain outside the womb. Wrapped in a blanket, embraced by Kristina, by Grandma, by Jem; these moments were the whole of his life.
From the womb, into loving arms, then off to be with Jesus; this is the sum of it. We take comfort in that his only experience was and still is love.
Kristina and Ali (our daughter) haven’t emerged unscathed. Yet neither allowed a sinking despair nor an ache most cruel and carving, a conquering foothold. They are the bravest of women and most resilient. I draw no small comfort in how they two prevailed against the winds of affliction; against a modern day “euroclydon” if you will. I cannot speak to their pilgrimage through grief’s wasteland, for I do not wholly understand their journey; only of mine do I dare impart.
The cyclic five, for Aaron, was weathered through rhythm and lyric.
Many thanks to:
My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for your sacrifice, and for snatching this sinner from the flame.
Russ and Jem thank you for your kind words which in part inspired this EP;
“…here to sit in the sadness with you.“
Isaac Senteza of Garnet Street Records for advice, some editing, and balancing.
Zoe Bandelman and Kylee Aldstadt for sharing your angelic voices.
Zachariah Turnage for assisting with drums on “Be Still.”
The Harper family for funding the disc production. May God bless you 100 fold for your generosity.
Katharina Von Schlegel for authoring the “Be Still” hymnal from which I drew comfort and inspiration.
The Children of Adonai for your prayers and support; “Jesus wins!”
Justin Murray for taking these demos and transforming them into something elegant yet brutish.
