Veteran metallers Deliverance are booked for the third edition of Rock Alive, which will be held 23 September 2017 again at venue Atak, Enschede, the Netherlands. This will be their first show ever at European soil. It’s still far away but mark this date on your calendar.
Other confirmed bands so far are: Antidemon (BRA). Frühstück (PL/NL) more bands tba.
On 28 Oct. 2010 the band played at Nordic Fest. (Oslo). Unfortunately frontman Jimmy Brown was unable to come and he was replaced by Eli Prinsen (The Sacrificed/Sacred Warrior), let’s hope this time Jimmy will be there! (footage of their show in Oslo can be seen here, Deliverance at 07.09). Because otherwise it is not Deliverance, but that’s my opinion.
Deliverance was founded by Jimmy P. Brown II in 1985, many members have either stayed in the lineup for a number of years, or left and returned to the lineup. Jimmy P. Brown II has been the only persistent member of Deliverance. Initially, the band played thrash metal band which later shifted more towards heavy metal and progressive metal.
Never say die! Deliverance, the veteran thrash band who’s styling’s also have taken them into progressive and alternative territories have opted to regroup once again with a new line up that finds former guitarist George Ochoa returning to the fold. Led by mainman and guitarist/vocalist Jimmy P. Brown II, this latest incarnation also features former Tourniquet bassist Victor Macias and former Crucified drummer Jim Chaffin. Following the release of their last album, “Hear What I Say” in 2013, the Big D was said to be all but finished and headed for retirement. However, speaking with Jimmy Brown at a private Christmas party on Dec. 13th. at guitarist George Ochoa‘s home in California, it was revealed to The Metal Priest that only the previous lineup has been disbanded and that Deliverance in one form or another, will probably never end. It was also confirmed that they have been writing and planning to release a new CD sometime in the not too distant future although no official time table has been set. The band were to perform a very late night set at the party but only lasted for about two songs before police shut the party down for noise ordinance violations, there were many bands throughout the night and Deliverance went on last. Fan-filmed footage of the song ‘Weapons of Our Warfare,’ shot at the party, can be seen here. The new material from the band is said to venture into uncharted waters with heavy influences from Rush, Dream Theater and Pink Floyd.
Ochoa was originally a member of Deliverance during their most successful point in history when they were supporting the “Weapons of Our Warfare” album. Following the breakup of his previous band Recon, Ochoa was asked to join Deliverance and remained with the band through their “What A Joke” release. Since leaving Deliverance he has remained more or less reclusive in his musical endeavors but has since, in addition to rejoining Deliverance, been working on releasing a new album of material under the name of Worldview, a band that contains former members of Recon and former Sacred Warrior vocalist Rey Parra. Their long-awaited debut album “The Chosen Few” has been released on May 22nd 2015 in Europe and on May 26th in North America through M24 Music Group. Our review of “The Chosen Few” can be found here.
Brown has also been hard at work with his other band Jupiter VI which released their new album “Face In The Sky” on December 16th, 2014.
Deliverance latest album “Hear What I Say!” has been released December 10th. 2013 via 3 Frogz Records and Roxx Records. Our review for “Hear What I Say!” can be found here.
