Producer/songwriter Ben Moody has posted a YouTube clip in which he puts a new spin on the song My Immortal, the song he originally wrote and recorded with his former band, Evanescence. Check it out below.
My Immortal was released on December 8, 2003 as the third single from their Evanescence‘s debut album, Fallen. The song was entirely written by Moody, with the exception of the bridge, which was later added by Evanescence lead singer Amy Lee.
Lyrically, My Immortal talks about “a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won’t leave you alone.” Moody later revealed that the song was written for his grandfather Bill Holcomb. An accompanying music video directed by David Mould was filmed entirely in black and white in Gothic Quarter in Barcelona, Spain on October 10, 2003. The clip, which can also be seen below, shows Lee sitting and singing in various locations, but never touching the ground. Shots of Moody are also included but he doesn’t appear in any scenes with Lee or the rest of the band.
