‘All That Remains’ Completes Recording New Album

ATR.bandMassachusetts metallers All That Remains have completed recording their new album at a California studio for a tentative late 2014/early 2015 release via Razor & Tie. The follow-up to 2012’s “A War You Cannot Win” is being helmed by producer Josh Wilbur, who has previously worked with Lamb Of God and Gojira

Commented All That Remains frontman Philip Labonte: “Sittin’ at a bar at San Diego international airport. Gonna fly home in a lil bit.

“Our part of the record is done. Nothing more to track. Tones are all picked out and decided on. Solos and overdubs and leads and backing vocals and vocals all done. So, in a weird way, it’s almost as if we’re done being creative for, like, two years. Now it’s all just doing everything we can to get in front of as many people as we can.

“It was an absolute pleasure to work with Josh Wilbur. He and his wife are some of the most down-to-earth and warm people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.

Josh helped us in new and unexpected ways to do what we always try to do when we put out a record, and that’s release something that challenges what All That Remains is and can do. He’s a great songwriter and producer.

“Everyone in All That Remains was very happy working with Josh.

“Our longtime friend Jim Fogarty was running engineering duties again, and, as usual, he was awesome to work with and his input was incredibly helpful. He’s been a friend and recorded projects I’ve worked in since I was 17. Over 20 f**** years. I’ve learned a lot from him and I’m glad he keeps putting up with us.”

LaBonte told The Pulse Of Radio a while back how the band approaches a new record. “There’s a lot of bands out there that are like, ‘Oh, we went and we took a bunch of time and we were thinking about this and we were thinking about that,’ and blah blah blah,” he said. “All That Remains has never been that band. We’ve always been the band that’s like, ‘You know what? We’ve got to write a record, why don’t we all just get together and come up with some ideas, and the stuff we like, we’ll use, and the stuff we don’t like, we’ll throw away.’ There’s so many bands out there that are like, ‘Oh, we want to change the world and we want to…’ And it’s like, ‘Okay.'”

All That Remains had a No. 2 single on the rock radio chart earlier this year with ‘What If I Was Nothing’, which marked a stylistic departure for the band. The song’s accompanying video was directed by Rasa Acharya and Dan Kennedy of Little Sky Film (Say Anything, We Came As Romans)

A previous single from “A War You Cannot Win”, ‘Stand Up’, spent three weeks at No. 1, making it the band’s first -ever chart-topper fifth consecutive Top 10 rock single.

“A War You Cannot Win” debuted at Number 13 on the Billboard album chart and has sold over 115,000 copies to date.
