Italian prog rock bass player and composer Alberto Rigoni recently posted a song in memoriam of Randy Coven (54) who passed away on May 20th 2014. Randy [picture] toured and recorded with such virtuosos as Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai,
The song ‘Corruption’ from Alberto‘s upcoming album, featuring Simone Mularoni (DGM) on guitars, Federico Solazzo on keyboards and Denis Novello on drums. The instrumental progressive metal song can be streamed in the soundcloud player below.
“I discovered Randy Coven back in 2002 when I purchased ARK’s “Burn the Sun” (one of my favorite albums ever). I was amazed by his unique and superb bass playing. The way he played fretless bass in metal songs was truly innovative. Recently I was trying to contact him for a new studio project that will feature many great prog rock metal bass players from all around the world. Yesterday I learned that he passed away. I’m still shocked and I don’t know what to say but will dedicate my new album (out on October 1st 2014) to him. RIP Randy, you will always inspire my music!!”
More heavy and progressive than its predecessors, Alberto’s fourth album will be released by Any and All Records on October 1st 2014 and it will be distributed worldwide by PowerProg (Europe), Nightmare Records (USA & Canada), Disk Union (Japan), Mylodon Records (Chile), BTF (Italy), La Mazakuata Records (Mexico).
“The album production is going great and it’s gonna sound huge! I’m really excited about this new release! In the following weeks Federico Solazzo, who also played amazing keyboards on the album, will do the mixing and the mastering. Alberto’s latest album “Three Wise Monkeys” was released on October 1, 2012 by Any And All Records with worldwide distribution [Nightmare Records, Disk Union, Power Prog, MediaStar, BTF.it etc.].
The instrumental progressive rock metal song features ex Dream Theater member Kevin Moore [OSI, Chroma Key], Tommy Ermolli [Twinspirits guitar player] and Paolo Valli [session drummer for many famous italian artists].
