Roxx Records is at it again, this time with another long-lost classic and personal favorite of ours that we are super excited to be bringing back to life with our ‘white glove’ remastering process, which includes a killer remastering by Rob Colwell (Bombworks Sound) and an exciting new layout and design courtesy of Scott Waters (NoLifeTilMetal Graphics) working in partnership with this amazing band to bring you a Limited Edition Classic!
In 1982 on the East Coast in Quincy Massachusetts, there was a rumbling in the Christian hard rock scene with the birth of SENTRY! Originally formed by four key members including David McCreary on Lead Vocals and Guitar, Steve Knepper on Bass, Tim Knepper on the Keys, and with original drummer Tim Jenkins (1982-1985) who would later be replaced by Jeff Stewart (1985-1990).
Sentry was a mainstay on the East Coast playing shows, garnering their sound and building a following in those early days. The band played many shows with opening band FURY, another killer Christian hard rock band hailing from that scene around the same time. Also to note the band used to play at the legendary club The Channel in Boston where many bands including Extreme used to frequent.
It would not be until a few years into their existing the band would release their first four track demo tape Breakin’ Free in 1988. As the band continued working on that following and playing shows, they would quickly jump right into demo number 2 to keep building that momentum and in 1989 would release their sophomore, and final, six track demo tape recording entitled Sick of the Darkness.
Alas, after that second demo the band would continue to play a couple more years and do a few special shows here and there, but ultimately like so many other amazing bands, they would call it quits in the earlier days of their career and be lost in to obscurity. Until now!
SENTRY Anthology is a collection of both of those classic demos in their entirety with the addition of a previously unreleased bonus track and a brand new 2026 recording of the band’s classic track, “Sick of the Darkness.”
