This year, the Polish metal band Malchus is celebrating their 15th anniversary. On November 11 they released their seventh album titled “Dziedzictwo” (Heritage).
This date is not accidental. As the band announces, the album will feature songs whose lyrical layer refers to the heritage of past generations of Poles. Malchus states:
Today Poland is celebrating the 101st National Independence Day and our wish was to present a music video ‘Heritage of War’ promoting our newest album “Heritage” on this particular date. It’s our artistic way of showing remembrance and respect for those who had the courage to defend their fatherland fighting for its independence. Józef Piłsudski who is considered to be one of the “fathers of independence” said that “independence is never a given for Polish people”. After the year 1918 these words became a prophecy that was soon to be fulfilled. The video archives utilized in the music clip are a proof of how often Poles had to face the enemy in an uneven battle.
The 11th of November is also the date of our newest album’s release. Its title can be associated with the history of our ancestors. The lyrics of tracks such as ‘Heritage of War’ or ‘Blood Heritage’ have a strong connection to the aforementioned “Heritage” of independence.
Happy Independence Day!
