The first edition of Lamininfest [Oct.8-2011] was a great success, pictures can be found here! Reason for a second edition that will be held on Saturday, October 20th. 2012 in Youth Centre The Mix, Wolvega, the Netherlands.
The first preparations for this years edition have already put in motion. A Rock / Metal Festival with Christian bands and several booths with information and merchandise. The bands that will play this year are Illuminandi (Folkmetal, PL), Sacred Trust (Hardrock, NL), Veritas Infinita (Folkrock, NL) and Beyond The Doom (Thrash/Doommetal,NL).
Illuminandi is a six-piece Polish band that performs a unique style of rock music in which heavy guitar riffs are as prominent as haunting cello and violin melodies. Although frequently labelled as “folk metal” or “gothic metal”, the band’s sound does not easily yield to boundaries. Even though Illuminandi appeals to most melodic metal fans, their music also contains elements of extreme metal, classical music, European folk music, progressive rock, early music and even hardcore. Illuminandi’s latest album In Via (Latin for “on the way”) features guest performances from members of Celtic music band Open Folk (Paweł Iwaszkiewicz – recorders, shawm) and Polish avant-garde folk band Żywiołak (Robert Jaworski – hurdy gurdy), as well as two of Illuminandi’s ex-vocalists. The CD was mastered by Polish mastering legend Grzegorz Piwkowski. In Via was released on Ars Mundi on May 28th. 2010. Check out the music video below for W drodze (On the Way). Beyond the Doom is a new progressive melodic doom / death metal project. Founded in early 2012. The formation consists of several musicians from other bands: Drums: Samuel (The Opponent Process), Bass: Nick (Slechtvalk), Vocals: Joey (Burial Earth) Guitar: Roger (Morphia) and Guitar: Mauce (Thy Blood My Gain). The band will mostly play covers of past or contemporary white metal bands such as Tourniquet, Seventh Angel, Trouble and more.
The purpose of the festival is to give people that enjoy metal / rock a good time in which they become acquainted with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a casual way. The idea is that through the music, lyrics, and what they see, the visitors get a little tast of God’s greatness. And of course we hope their appetite will grow!
