Tigerwine is premiering the new music video for ‘Spit’ at New Noise Magazine. The track appears on their upcoming debut LP, “Die With Your Tongue Out”, which is set for release on 04/14 through Blood & Ink. The album was recorded with Matt Goldman (Underoath, Anberlin, The Chariot) at Glow In The Dark Studios and shows the group maturing their sound in ways most bands don’t achieve until well into their careers. The video can be seen below.
Tigerwine is hitting the road this spring with Daisyhead and Northbound.
Vocalist and guitarist Hayden Trobee says that this sonic stew was no accident. “I’ve always said that Tigerwine is just a love letter to every band we’ve ever been into, and I think we really embraced that,” he says. “When we were first starting to write the record, we resolved that if we liked something—whether it be a riff, beat, lyrics, melody, what have you—we weren’t going to throw it out just because it didn’t ‘sound like us,’ and I think that put us in a position where we just had to force things to work.”
“110” is a great example of this. Its raging riffs and soaring catharsis could feel out of place, but instead, it works as the impressive apex of Tigerwine’s metallic edge. Trobee agrees, “There was some debate before we left for the studio on whether that song would make it on the record. After a while, we just realized that we were worried about people’s reactions more than anything, so we kept it. It’s also a testament to [producer Matt] Goldman’s brilliance, because he added a couple things to that song that really made it make sense more than it did before we got there. I’d like to think we don’t sound like a giant hodgepodge mess,” he laughs.
Colorado’s Tigerwine melds progressive post-hardcore with the gloomy low-end of new-wave grunge to create a driving, in-your-face musical experience unlike any you’ve encountered before. After signing to Blood & Ink Records in the summer of 2015, the band released their debut EP, “Lull” introducing listeners to their self-reflective breed of raw, guitar-heavy alt-rock.
Tigerwine is Steve Lichtenwalter, Sean McKnight, Shane Riley, Hayden Trobee.
