All That Remains‘s video for its cover version of Garth Brooks‘s ‘The Thunder Rolls’ can be seen below.
The original song, which was a No. 1 Hot Country Songs hit during the spring of 1991, was written “about somebody who’s cheating on his wife, and every time he does it, the thunder rolls,” according to Brooks.
All That Remains‘s version of “The Thunder Rolls” appears on the band’s latest album, “Madness” which was recorded at West Valley Studios in Woodland Hills, California with producer Howard Benson, who has previously worked with such acts as Motörhead, Papa Roach, Three Days Grace, Flyleaf, P.O.D. and Halestorm.
All That Remains singer Phil Labonte told Billboard about the “sellout” accusations that have been leveled at the band for the more radio-friendly sound of the album’s first single and title track, “Madness”: “We’re continuing to push what people’s notion of what All That Remains is and what we’re allowed to do and what we’re willing to do, in what ways we’re willing to go and experiment. So far the reaction has been really cool. It’s also kind of what I expected; Our core audience likes a lot of diverse styles of music and gets it, and I think there’s enough stuff on it for people that haven’t heard All That Remains before to be kind of lured in. That’s always our point: how can we reach out to new people?”
