Their Throats are Open Tombs – s/t (ep)

TTAOT_EPFive guys from four countries on three continents and two hemispheres have assembled a project for one purpose – to make a lot of noise railing against the perversion of Christianity known as the “prosperity gospel” where the focus is on the gifts and not the giver, on the created and not the Creator. Fittingly, all proceeds from the project will be donated to OXFAM to support the work they do with world’s poor.

Their Throats are Open Tombs is a radical departure musically for all the band members.  Dougle you may know from 100 Philistine Foreskins and Voice of the Mysterions, Joshua from various hardcore bands, Dave from the Old Timers, and James and Chris from the band DRAW a 2-piece metalcore/punk band from Birmingham England worth checking out (https://m.facebook.com/wearedrawsome/).  What you get with this ep is 11 songs in 10 minutes.  Ten very noisy, grinding, brutal, painful minutes.  If anyone remembers the early days and most chaotic songs of Training for Utopia, that’s  where I ended  up in trying to describe the songs.  There is a lot going on the songs, various vocal contributions in various styles, pummeling rhythms, lots of electronic contributions..chaos but organized.  Lyrically the songs rage against materialism and substituting things for God and even finding hope in Christ. The delivery is filled with emotion and conviction and one can tell the performances are from the heart.

For something completely different and just as intense and brutal as one would want, you owe it to yourself to listen all the way through Their Throats are Open Tombs.
