In April 2023 Swedish Metalcore band Safemode’s song ‘This is not the end’ reached 1,000,000 streams on Spotify and shows no signs of slowing down.

‘This Is Not The End’ was first released in 2016 featured as the closing track on Safemode’s second full length album “Colorblind.” The song was written in loving memory of Tjet’s grandmother and deals with difficult subjects such as loss and the fear of being left behind.

The band decided they wanted to celebrate this success together with their wonderful listeners. In an attempt to give something back – as a token of appreciation for all the love shown – the band dusted off the cajón and the acoustic guitars and recorded a reimagined, rearranged and stripped down version of the song. The song will be released on Spotify as well as on YouTube accompanied by a spanking new music video.

“We are so happy and so proud having reached this milestone. As this song is about me losing my beloved grandmother it will of course always have a special place in my heart. To see that so many people appreciate this song is just amazing and so heart-warming” says lead singer Tjet Gustafsson.

“I had the pleasure to play cajón and produce the music video. As the original release never had a music video I am really thankful for the guys entrusting me with telling the story in moving pictures” – says cajón extraordinaire Robin Castañeda

“Everyone in the band really contributed to this stripped down version starting from Castañeda beating the cajón, Edward’s guitar and vocal harmony work, to Tjet’s soaring vocals and arrangement” continues bass player Felix Posner

Safemode is:
Tjet Gustafsson: lead vocals, guitars
Edward Säll: Guitars
Felix Posner: Bass
Robin Castañeda: Drums
