Roxx Records is excited to announce the remastered, remixed release of the iconic debut of 1980’s Christian hard rock band, Follower! This one and only album by this proto super group was released in 1985 on Quicksilver Records on vinyl and then later on cassette. The band members were all to go on to great success in the media world.
Kerry Crafton is a well-known record producer and engineer. He currently is a Recording Arts Instructor at Mediatech Institute in Dallas, Texas. He has worked on albums from One Bad Pig, Thomas Dolby, Glenn Hughes (of Deep Purple fame), and hundreds more. He has worked with the record labels Metal Blade, Capitol, Elektra, and more. In Follower he wrote many of the tracks on this stellar hard rock album, including the Led Zeppelinesque “A Tear from God’s Eye,” and the clarion call of “You Gotta Choose,” which opens the album with a bang.
Brian Wooten is one of the best and most respected guitarists in the industry, known to Christian music fans as the lead guitarist in seminal rock band White Heart from 1990 to 1995. But Wooten has been a music veteran since the 1970s. He has also played and co-written songs on Petra albums. Known as a Nashville road warrior, he has toured with country artists Paul Brandt and Trace Adkins. He wrote or co-wrote songs on the Follower album, including the closing praise & worship song, “Praise the Lord” and the straight-ahead, infectious rocker “In the Son.” His blistering lead guitar solos on the Follower album are a highlight.
John Howard, bassist of Follower, is another Nashville veteran having toured and recorded with Randy Travis, Lee Greenwood, Richard Marx, Cliff Richard, Kenny Rogers, and countless others.
Fred Howard, drummer, has been a TV post-production mixer in Los Angeles for years.
Lance Keltner, lead vocalist, has been making exceptional rock and roll music for decades. His self-titled debut on EastWest Records from 1992 is an underrated gem. Currently he performs with Lance Keltner & Nuevo Retro. He also runs a guitar amp/effects company that has had its products used by Joe Walsh and Tommy Shaw of Styx. His song, “Fear No Evil,” on this Follower album adds a funky, bluesy groove, as he belts out his potent vocals.
Altogether, the combined band members of Follower crafted a rock classic that should not be forgotten in the history of Christian music. The band laid down ten tracks of musical bliss, well played, infectious, and melodic. The band disbanded and went their separate ways after this album leaving behind a brief but important artifact of great music that brings glory to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! Now this nearly 40-year-old gem can be reexperienced again for those who remember it or to discover for those who will hear it for the first time.
Don’t miss out on owning this special Roxx Records release. It will surely please your ears and minister to your soul.
