Ty Tabor is the lead guitarist, songwriter, and co-lead vocalist for the progressive hard rock band, King’s X. He will release a new solo album in 2016 through Rat Pak Records. Watch a album teaser below.
The new album will be the follow up to “Nobody Wins When Nobody Plays” which has been released in 2013 via Molken Music.
Tabor has a wide-ranging guitar style, from big guitar riffs to soaring melodic passages. His use of volume swells and ambient passages add an elemental texture to his compositions. His influences include The Beatles, Brian May, Alex Lifeson, Ace Frehley, Phil Keaggy, and the original Alice Cooper band. In 2008, Tabor was added to the guitar show “Chop Shop”‘s list of “Top 100 Most Complete Guitar Players of All Time” at number 84.
As for King’s X, it’s been seven years since a new studio album has been offered up by the band since 2008’s “XV” But there were certainly understandable reasons for this break – including the health of drummer Jerry Gaskill‘s (who suffered two separate heart attacks). However, the trio – which also includes singer/bassist Doug Pinnick – appear to be back on track again. Earlier this year Pinnick spoke with Bravewords about the possibility of a new album.
“We actually committed to a new record. We don’t know when we’re going to do it yet, but everyone says, ‘OK. Let’s go forward.’ So that’s all I can tell you at the moment. I don’t know when, but we’re planning on doing a record – finally I’ve got everybody to say, ‘Let’s do it’.”
