Following the upcoming DVD Norwegian death metallers Extol came out with the following update:
It´s been a while since our last update. We´ve had our hands extremely full with post production and we´re now very close to a finished film..!
Thanks to many of you, this project has become a journey we dared not hope for 3 years ago.
We have just signed the first (of hopefully many) broadcasting deals for television and we have started submitting the film to film festivals all over the globe. We have some very exciting months ahead and we´ll keep you posted on updates regarding TV and festivals.
A DVD release is scheduled for the end of 2014. We would love to have released the DVD at an earlier stage, however, due to TV and film festival regulations, late 2014 is the earliest we can do it. BUT, we´ll make it worth the wait! The TV/festival version is 70 minutes long. The DVD version will be a much longer extended version! + the DVD will contain epic private bonus material from the band on a bonus disc!
Thank you so much for you patience and support, and while you wait for the DVD release, make sure to check in on this page often. We´ll keep you posted on where and when the film in screened.
Extol‘s long-awaited fifth album has been released on 21st of June 2013 in Norway, Germany and Austria and on 24th of June 2013 in Europe via Indie Recordings and on June 25 in North America via Facedown Records.
According to a press release, Extol‘s new CD “is a like a complex metallic alloy. The playfulness of the songs and the brutal bonding of genres are transformed into a fusion of atmospheric and harmonic prog rock, merged with the tempered thrash and death metal that Extol so uniquely master. This album leads us straight to the core of Extol.”
Comments Extol drummer David Husvik: “‘Extol’ is the album that was planned all the way, but never materialized. Partly due to changes in the lineup, but also because of the band´s urge to always reach for something new. The album is the recap of 20 years of Extolhistory, both musically and lyrically.”
With a long-awaited creative collaboration with Jens Bogren [Opeth, Paradise Lost, Enslaved] and some truly magnificent artwork byTravis Smith [Katatonia, Opeth, Death], Extol has managed to create a timeless masterpiece and the vision of the band seems clearer than ever.
The band has released five studio albums and two EPs. The band is noted for its precise, technical musicianship. The fourth album, The Blueprint Dives, received Spellemannsprisen nomination for best metal album of 2005. Extol has toured the US and Europe several times with such bands as Mastodon, God Forbid and Opeth. Collectively, Extol has sold over 500,000 CDs worldwide.
In October of 2012, we had the opportunity to do an interview with Ole Børud, the mastermind behind reactivated Extol.
