‘Evanescence’ To Rock 18th Annual Nobel Peace Prize Concert In ‘Oslo ‘

Evanescence will perform at this year’s Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo, Norway on December 11 at the Oslo Spektrum. The concert will be held a day after the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, whose honorees include President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and women’s right activist Leymah Gbowee, both of whom are from Liberia, and democracy activist Tawakkul Karman of Yemen.

Evanescence will join a number of other accomplished performing artists, including singer-songwriter David Gray, vocalist Jill Scott, country duo Sugarland and Matthew Morrison from Glee. The concert is scheduled to broadcast globally in up to 130 countries, including those in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, South, Central and North America. The event will also be streamed live on CNN International at 8:00 p.m. CET on December 11. 

In other news, Evanescence will play seven North American shows in January with support from Rival Sons.

Jan. 14 – Tabernacle – Atlanta, GA
Jan. 16 – Morsani Hall – Tampa, FL
Jan. 17 – Hard Rock Live – Hollywood, FL
Jan. 18 – House of Blues – Orlando, FL
Jan. 20 – IP Casino – Biloxi, MS
Jan. 21 – Verizon Arena – Little Rock, AR

Evanescence has tapped Dean Karr (Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson) to direct the video for the song My Heart Is Broken. The clip was filmed on December 1 and will make its online debut in January.

My Heart Is Broken comes off Evanescence‘s self-titled third major label album, which sold 127,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band’s previous CD, The Open Door, opened with 447,000 units back in October 2006 to debut at No. 1.
