Last November, the American heavy rock / post-hardcore band Project 86 played at the Brainstorm Festival in Apeldoorn (the Netherlands). It was 9 years since the band last visited the Netherlands (for 10,000 people at the Flevo Festival), while there was a lot of touring in Europe during those years. The show at Brainstorm was a great success and with that the foundation was laid for more. Fan-filmed footage of that show can be seen below.
To give the band a foothold here, Independent booking agency from the Netherlands, Desert Rose Agency will help them with bookings and promotion.
Project 86 hails from Orange County, California, formed in 1996. The band has released ten albums, which have collectively sold nearly 500,000 units worldwide, two EPs, two DVDs, and one live album. Their music is considered by most to be a rock/post-hardcore/alternative style. Frontman Andrew Schwab‘s poetic and introspective lyrics have addressed a wide variety of topics such as conformity and emptiness.
The band was started by Schwab as a way to inspire people to live their lives with hope.
Last year October, In celebration of their 20th year as a band, Project 86 announced their 10th album release worldwide on December 5th, 2017. The Pledgemusic funded project highlights a lengthy career with an impressive, genre-defying milestone of ten songs, titled “Sheep Among Wolves.”
The Album is lean, mean, and diverse as ever. Hammering tracks such as ‘MHS’ and ‘Dead Man’s Switch’ promise to please the diehard P86 faithful, while moodier tracks such as ‘Freebooter,’ ‘Copper Wish’ and ‘Metempsychosis’ are emotive and haunting. The lyrics, while as contemplative as ever, address some of the most poignant issues of our time.
Our review for “Sheep Among Wolves” can be found here.
