Every top sport shares the same philosophy: out on the pitch you’ll face the bloody truth. Hard working bands feel pretty much the same: Your live performance is the true test of character and class.

There’s no harder challenge than a gig in the city of the Olympic spirit. During their latest European journey Symphonity’s Epic Melodic Power Metal passed the test in the epicentre of Power Metal craziness: Athens’ venue Gagarin 205.

Honest to the Bone
The show in April 2025 has been cut authentically in one piece for the EP “Beyond Olympus”. Its line-up works like an inseparable unit, similar to the team who crafted the brilliant recording of “Marco Polo: Live in Europe” that has been released back in 2024. Guitarist Libor Křivák, his partner-in-crime Tomáš Sklenář (bass guitar) and Swedish singer David Åkesson delighted the fans by entering the stage together with former drummer Martin “Marthus” Škaroupka. “We dove deep into the spirit of our first two studio albums which he recorded back then. During this cooperation we explored the idea to record something new together. And that’s how we got to this EP”, says Libor.

Back to the Roots
To seal their regained unity, the band recorded a new studio track, serving as opening bonus to “Beyond Olympus”. The back-to-the-roots-flair of “Out and About” is bridging time and space until Symphonity’s next studio album with neoclassical guitars and progressive elements:

“It is for the first time in the history of the band that we use this kind of ‘light’ topic which contrasted to our last concept album”, states Libor. “It is dedicated to our fans and describes the life and struggles of the band on tour.”

Lyrics to “Out and About” were provided by Tommy König, best known als Lyricist for
Symphonity’s classics “Evening Star” und “King of Persia” in earlier years.

The EP’s booklet has been designed by Lenka Čechovás cover art. Christof Filis did contribute
live photos.

Making Metal History
Being 16 years old at the time, Czech guitarist and songwriter Libor Křivák formed his first
band Otter in 1994, changing the name to Nemesis in the years to come. In 2003 Nemesis’
debut album “Goddess of Revenge” saw the light of day. During his childhood Libor Křivák was supposed to follow the footsteps of his grandfather, an artistically gifted painter. At the age of eleven Libor switched to a dusty guitar he discovered in a closet of his parents’ house. His parents encouraged his enthusiasm by enrolling him to a local music school, which he attended for eleven years until he graduated as a classically educated guitarist.
Libor, away from stage and studio a developer for human machine interfaces, arranges his songs on electric and acoustic guitars, but also on the piano. His close musical partner since many years is bass guitarist Tomáš Sklenář, a guitar and bass teacher.

Team Spirit and Dedication
Symphonity’s musical universe is defined by the inspired teamwork of dedicated musicianship.
Despite many line-up changes, let alone the tragic sudden death of bassist Tomáš
Chelechovský in 2012, Libor managed to maintain the band’s critically acclaimed class over all
those years with always fitting musical personalities from all over Europe.

2008 Symphonity’s debut “Voice from the Silence” has been released. 2016 its successor “King
of Persia” did earn critical acclaim as an outstandingly crafted piece of melodic power metal.
2022 the conceptual magnum opus “Marco Polo – The Metal Soundtrack” got even more
enthusiastic reviews, followed by “Marco Polo – Live in Europe” in 2024.
