Tim Gaines’ Wife States that He Will Not Be Part of Stryper’s New Album

Brandee Gaines, the new wife of Stryper bassist Timothy Gaines, has indicated via Facebook that her new husband will not be playing on Stryper‘s upcoming new studio album.

Whether Tim Gaines would be a part of Stryper‘s upcoming studio album has been up in the air for some time and even publicly back to December 2016 when Stryper frontman Michael Sweet revealed in an interview with Nick from WSOU about the possibility of doing the album without Gaines, “Well, I mean, it remains to be seen but it’s very possible. I’d go as far as to say even probable. But we don’t really know quite yet. It’s something that very well could happen. Absolutely.” The next day, Gaines advised via Twitter that he was not leaving Stryper.

Brandee Gaines also took aim at some of the comments from outsiders reporting that her new husband has played on only a few albums and songs on past Stryper albums. Brandee Gaines advised that Gaines has played on most Stryper songs.

Wikipedia reports that Gaines likely did not play on Stryper‘s “To Hell With The Devil” (1986) and did not play on the subsequent In God We Trust album (1988) as it is indicated in part (with slight edits):

“Being a Sunset Strip regular, Gaines joined up with Michael SweetRobert Sweet and Oz Fox in 1983 who had already formed Roxx Regime, which would be later changed to StryperGaines quickly rounded out the quartet’s sound with his bass, background vocals and keyboard skills. Gaines recorded the band’s debut EP “The Yellow and Black Attack” and their follow up full-length album “Soldiers Under Command” in 1985.

Gaines briefly left the band during the pre-production period of the band’s platinum selling album “To Hell With The Devil” but rejoined the band after the sessions were concluded in order to tour. Gaines did not play on the band’s follow up “In God We Trust” but did tour in support of the album.

Gaines‘ contributions to the band’s next release “Against The Law” were evident in his playing on the release but he did not play on the band’s cover of Earth, Wind & Fire‘s ‘Shining Star’ (the track was recorded by Randy Jackson).”

Gaines remarried on May 17th, which should be a happy occasion, but his wife Brandee Renee Gaines has been the victim of haters on social media. On June 1st he addressed the issue via Facebook, taking his “fans” to task:

“Given all of the hype, hatred, and half truths being spewed around social media the last few days, I would like to join in prayer for our friends, loved ones, and enemies alike. My wife has been falsely accused of being ‘the devil’, a ‘whore’, a ‘home wrecker’, a ‘bitch’, a ‘dog’, and even a carrier of ‘herpes…?’ The accusations have come from the ‘Christian’ community. But in reality, my wife, wrongfully attacked, wants to pray for her enemies. She is a good woman. She doesn’t deserve the hatred coming from the Stryper fanbase. I love my wife so much, and it kills me to see some of these so called ‘fans’ and ‘Christians’ spew their vile filth. So like my wife, rather than get angry, we will let this pass and pray for our enemies.”

Stryper‘s latest album, “Fallen”, entered The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 43 with first-week sales of just over 10,000 units — nearly all from pure album sales. The set followed the No. 35-peaking “No More Hell To Pay”, which was released in 2013.

Stryper begins recording a new album in October and will be touring extensively throughout 2018.

  1. Sad! I am definitely a Stryper fan AND devout Christian and life happens! I wish everything was always neat and pretty and all of us as Christians were perfect but we just arent. Those Christians though are not their enemy, and I hope they realize that. They are just human… wrong to judge, but human and we all need t o extend grace to each other. Peace, everyone!
