Ohio metalcore act Convictions have announced their long-awaited new EP “I Won’t Survive”, their first independent release since leaving InVogue Records in 2019.

The band have also released a powerful new single ‘The War That Followed Me Home’, shining a light on those who struggle with PTSD and living with trauma. Vocalist Mike Felker stated about the song,

‘The War That Followed Me Home’ is a true story written from the perspective of a close fan and friend of ours named Cory. Cory spoke with me throughout the last couple years through numerous interviews opening up about his battles surviving the war and PTSD. We feel honored to share some of his story and we hope his experience can help others facing the same struggles.”

The song features incredible vocal performances from both Mike Felker and new bassist Danyal Suchta, with perfect delivery and an incredible impressive range. Thall-esque guitars and an absolutely devastating breakdown drive the instrumentation of the song as one of the best metalcore singles of 2021 so far. The single follows up ‘The Price Of Grace’, which gave us our first look at the band’s brutal new sound and striking lyricism of their upcoming EP “I Won’t Survive”. Mike Felker additionally stated when asked about the EP,

“I Won’t Survive” is a collection of true survival stories ranging from PTSD, Grief, Addiction, Cancer, and Suicide. These songs were written through interviews conducted throughout a two year period. We wanted to learn more about the turning point in these stories and what these survivors felt and experienced at their lowest to overcome and survive. Our goal is to highlight positive mental health and share the hope we believe God has for our lives.”
