‘The new Impellitteri cd is mixed and mastered! The title is “Venom”. Working on the booklet and artwork now. Sounds great!’

In an update last week (Jan. 15) Chris Impellitteri said the following:

‘Dear friends, while we wait to release the new Impellitteri record in 2015 check out our newest addition to the band Drummer Jon Dette… can check some of his drum cam footage when he was playing drums for the band Slayer The mans bad ass and will blow your mind when you hear his playing on the new Impellitteri record… We are taking the new music to the extreme, with great melody, riffs, shredding— all the while making every note, beat, vocal, and solo memorable.’ The footage can be seen at Jon‘s youtube channel.

Chris Impellitteri formed Impellitteri in 1987 together with Rob Rock as vocalist. That year, they released an EP called the black album. The selftitled EP was well-received, and Impellitteri regrouped, this time with Graham Bonnet as lead singer, and release the full-length album “Stand In Line”in 1988.

After some touring and label deals, Impellitteri returned (again with Rob Rock on vocals) with “Grin and Bear It” in 1992. The following year, they released another EP titled “Victim of the System”. In 1994, they released “Answer To The Master”.

In 1996, Impellitteri released “Screaming Symphony”, which has become one of the most acclaimed albums of the band. In 1997 they released yet another EP titled “Fuel For The Fire”, in preparation for their next full-length album. The next year, they released another of their most acclaimed works: “Eye of the Hurricane”. They followed it in 2000 with “Crunch”

Shortly after, Rock decided to pursue a solo career so Impellitteri recruited Graham Bonnet again, and started working on his next album. In 2002, they finally released “System X”. That year, they also released a compilation of hits called “The Very Best of Impellitteri”

The union with Bonnet would be short-lived as they parted ways some time after, and Impellitteri recruited Curtis Skelton, finally releasing “Pedal To The Metal” in 2004, one of their most aggressive albums to date.

In May 2008, it was announced that Rob Rock was, once again, back in Impellitteri. They collaborated on a new album called “Wicked Maiden”  The album was released in Japan and Europe on February 24, 2009, with the intent of releasing the new album in the United States in 2011, followed by the Impellitteri shredfest tour.

As far as Christian metal ties, Impellitteri does not consider themselves to be a Christian band. Rob Rock said the following in an interview:

“Chris and I and Ken Mary are all Christians, but James and Ed and Glen, our touring drummer, don’t necessarily proclaim themselves as Christians, so it’s not a Christian band.”

Chris Impellitteri is heralded as one of the world’s greatest guitar shredders. He has won the Best Rock Guitarist Award for his guitar soloing. He is the first guitarist to be branded as the fastest guitarist in the world by the international media. (Recently and without self promotion Impellitteri was Officially voted 2nd fastest guitarist in the world by “Guitar One” magazine; and “Guitar World magazine recently listed Chris Impellitteri within their top 50 fastest guitarists of all time)
