Ted Kirkpatrick Releases ‘Gethsemane’ Single (from Jesus Christ Superstar) Feat. Tim Ripper Owens, Bruno Sa

Tourniquet co-founder and drummer Ted Kirkpatrick has released ‘Gethsemane’ and the song comes from the well-known rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar. The song is sung by Tim Ripper Owens (ex-Iced Earth, ex-Judas Priest) and on keyboards, piano: Bruno Sa (Anamglas, Diaspora Mundi, Operation: Mindcrime). Kirkpatrick says the following “

“Gethsemane” has been a favorite of mine, and a blessing to me, from the very first time I heard it in the early ‘70s. I’ve wanted to cover it for years – and with the awesome talents of Tim, Bruno, and Aaron Pace (mixing/mastering), here it is – on the 50 year anniversary of its release in 1970. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do…

Jesus Christ Superstar is a 1970 rock opera with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. It started as a rock opera album musical before its Broadway on-stage debut in 1971. The musical is sung-through, with no spoken dialogue. The story is loosely based on the Gospels ‘accounts of the last week of Jesus‘ life, beginning with the preparation for the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem and ending with the crucifixion. It depicts political and interpersonal struggles between Judas Iscariot and Jesus that are not present in the Bible.

Tourniquet‘s brand new album “Gazing at Medusa” is released on October 18 via Pathogenic Records. With ‘Gazing At Medusa’, Tourniquet is back in action. On the new album, the band went all out with on microphone singer Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens (Judas Priest / Iced Earth) and a guest role for singer Deen Castronovo (Journey). For the guitar work, the band managed to attract Chris Poland (Megadeth).
