Jedidah – The Wave And The Breaker (demo 2011)

Jedidah is a hardcore/metalcore band from the Netherlands. They started out playing covers of Norma Jean, Haste the Day and Underoath. But now they play their own songs and this is there first EP. It contains 4 songs and an outro. The artwork looks pretty cool and definitely matches the music.

It starts with ‘Hearts & Ink’. It’s a typical hardcore song with mostly harsh vocals but also yelling and some talking vocals. The song starts fast. Then some lead guitar kicks in and it ends with a breakdown with a nice scream along. The lyrics are about struggles and feeling lost.

Second song is ‘The Radar’. This song is a little faster and aggressive with also some growling background vocals. “Your love” continuous with the same speed and aggression but now the lead vocalist also does some growls. Screaming; “Take what’s left make it yours”.

The song ‘Burn Babylon’ is the longest song. It’s also lyrically different. Like the title suggests it’s about the judgment of Babylon. Combining the different element from the previous songs and adding some gang vocals.
This EP ends with an instrumental. It’s a piano playing some calming melody. It’s cool but it feels a bit unnecessary.

Overall this is a solid debut. It has a nice old-school feel to it. Although they bring nothing really new to the table, you can hear the passion and energy. If you like the bands mentioned above mixed with some old-school hardcore, I think you will enjoy this. I am trying to attend a show near me!
