Swedish melodic death metal band Solution .45 released the first single from the upcoming new album “Nightmares In The Waking State – Part II” which will be released worldwide on August 26th via AFM Records. The album will be available on CD, limited vinyl, as well as most digital platforms. Check out the official lyric video for ‘Built On Sand’ below.
Commented the band: “Nightmares In The Waking State – Part II” is in fact not a ‘new’ album in the strict sense of the word. Both Part I and II were actually recorded at the same time, as ‘one’ long album, but since we did not want to release it as a regular double album, we decided to split it into two separate releases instead to make it a bit more interesting. Compared to Part I, Part II has a slightly more melodic touch.
“Lyrically it’s core matter is based around ‘struggle’ and the art of fighting your way through the tough times in life. We’ve all been there and we will all most likely end up there again some day. Life is often a really dark and nasty place and we’d like to see ‘Nightmares In The Waking State – Part I & II’ as our soundtrack to that!“
The cover art (below) was done by Par Olofsson. The layout and design was done by Seiya Ogino (Ogino Design) and Christian Älvestam.
Solution .45 formed in late 2007 as a conceptual entity, but never blossomed into fruition until fall 2008, when Christian Älvestam (Unmoored, Miseration, Torchbearer, ex- Scar Symmetry), Jani Stefanovic (Miseration, Essence Of Sorrow), Anders Edlund (ex-Solar Dawn), Rolf Pilve (Stratovarius, Essence Of Sorrow), Tom Gardiner (Essence Of Sorrow, ex- Mors Principium Est), and Mikko Harkin (ex-Sonata Arctica, Kotipelto) recorded an 8-track demo with Thomas “Plec” Johansson (Scar Symmetry, Watain) handling production-duties. Being impressed with the unfinished demo songs, Germany’s AFM Records and Japan’s Marquee/Avolon Inc signed the band to record deals in 2009. With these in place, Solution .45 went back to “Plec’s” Panic Room Studios to finally record their debut album. Entitled “For Aeons Past”, and released in March 2010, Solution .45‘s first full-length effort was unanimously praised by critics and fans as a triumphantly infectious, yet meaty release that the metal scene needed.
The long awaited sophomore effort “Nightmares in the Waking State, Pt. I,” has been released on November 20th 2015 via AFM Records. Our review can be found here.
