Tsidkenu, the progressive metal band celebrates this week their 25th anniversary since their formation in December 1997.

They are currently one of the best known Christian metal bands in Central America and several Latin American countries, sharing the stage with bands like Antidemon from Brazil or Rhapsody of Fire from Italy in 2018.

The band was formed on December 27th 1997 by guitarist Hugo Durón, (who is the only one of the founders that still remains in the band), Ivis Diaz, David Guerrero and Nilo Espinal.

Although at the beginning they had influences of hard rock, thrash and heavy metal from bands like Tourniquet, Stryper or Whitecross, they managed to define a sound after their first album, today they sound more similar to bands like Symphony X, Stratovarious or Dream Theater.

Since their formation in 1997, Tsidkenu has been a constant band at festivals in their country and Central America, managing to forge themselves as one of the most recognised bands, not only in the Christian arena, but also in secular metal, which allowed them to be the opening band for Rhapsody of Fire a few years ago.

Hugo Duron, the guitarist and founder says:
Nobody said it was easy, making metal music in Honduras is almost crazy, but the desire to do it is stronger and here we are, celebrating our 25th anniversary today.

It’s easy to say, but getting to these years with my band has been a journey full of struggles, disappointments, problems, but none of that compares to the satisfaction of being in front of a small group of people, hundreds or thousands, knowing that many in our country and the region have grown, enjoyed and have been forged with our music is a source of pride.

We can only thank God, our friends and fans who have always been here.

The band is currently finalizing the recording of their new album “Apocalipsys Magna,” from which they have already presented the singles ‘Sin Mañana’ and ‘Speed Harmony,’ featuring former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian in the solo of the song ‘Sin Mañana.’
