On September 3, the Gimme Shelter Open Air Fest in Athens, Greece will feature the world premiere of Timo Tolkki’s Strato. The new formation of the legendary Timo Tolkki, who together with other members of early Stratovarius (Antti Ikonen – keyboards, Tuomo Lassila – drums, John Vihervä – bass), chose Athens to take the stage together for the first time and relive historical moments, playing all the classics from the first 3 albums of the iconic band from Finland.

The complete lineup of the Gimme Shelter Open Air Fest will be Firewind, Timo Tolkki’s Strato, Nervosa, and Lazy Man’s Load.

‘Beautiful Lie’ is the latest video to be released from “The Enigma Birth,” the new album from Timo Tolkki’s Avalon. The song features Dream Theater’s James LaBrie, the video can be seen below.

“The Enigma Birth” is out now via Frontiers Music, and features an excellent cast of vocalists including LaBrie, Jake E (ex-Amaranthe, Cyrha), Marina La Torraca (Phantom Elite, Exit Eden), Brittney Slayes (Unleash The Archers), Raphael Mendes (Icon Of Sin), Fabio Lione (Rhapsody, Angra, Eternal Idol), Caterina Nix (Chaos Magic), and YouTube vocal star Pellek.

The resulting album is once again everything that you could expect from one of the true masters of the art. You have Tolkki’s trademark fast songs with super catchy hooks, outstanding mid-tempo songs, and a couple of great power ballads thrown in the mix for a wonderfully balanced album. This is Timo Tolkki at his 100% best. He’s back and ready to reclaim his seat on the Power Metal throne.

Timo Tolkki’s Avalon to Release New Album “The Enigma Birth” In June Feat. James Labrie, PelleK, Fabio Lone, First Single Released

Frontiers Music will release the fourth album from Timo Tolkki’s Avalon, “The Enigma Birth”, on June 18. Again featuring a slew of talented guest vocalists, the album sees the Finnish guitar maestro’s skills on display once again. Today, the first single from the album, ‘Master Of Hell’, featuring up-and-coming Brazilian vocalist Raphael Mendes (Icon Of Sin) has been released. Watch the video below.

Over the past year, Timo started working on songs and once again connected with Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere, Archon Angel, Sweet Oblivion) to craft music for a new album. The new record, “The Enigma Birth”, as with previous Avalon albums, features an absolutely awesome cast of vocalists, including James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Jake E (ex-Amaranthe, Cyrha), Marina La Torraca (Phantom Elite, Exit Eden), Brittney Slayes (Unleash The Archers), Raphael Mendes (Icon Of Sin), Fabio Lione (Rhapsody, Angra, Eternal Idol), Caterina Nix (Chaos Magic) and YouTube vocal star Pellek.

With Lonobile overseeing the production, the main work on “The Enigma Birth” was completed in the winter of 2020. The resulting album is once again everything that you could expect from one of the true masters of the art. Timo Tolkki Playing Stratovarius Classics, Latin American Tour 2019, First Dates Announced

Details are still being sorted out, but former Stratovarius guitarist Timo Tolkki has announced a Latin American tour for later this year featuring performances of classics from the band’s catalogue. Dates are available below.

Back in April, Tolkki posted the following comment on Facebook, which is significant in that he did not part with the band on good terms, although his relationship with the Stratovarius members has been mended in recent years.

Tolkki: “My friend Timo Kotipelto is one of the best power metal vocalists of the world. I still remember back in 1995 when I went to meet TK in his home. He opened the door and I thought, ‘Okay, he looks great.’ Then he played me his demo and after hearing seven notes I knew he was the one.” Continue reading »
