Stairway Celebrate 30 years of “No Rest: No Mercy”

Roxx Records has teamed up with UK Christian rockers Stairway to release the definitive and very special 30th anniversary edition of “No Rest:No Mercy”.

Stairway was founded in October 1978 at beginning of the NWOBHM era, and has released six full length albums to date. The band was signed in 1990 by Kingsway Music as part of the 1991 White Metal Records compilation CD ‘White Metal Warriors’ and recorded two tracks, ‘Anybody There’ and ‘Walk Away’ exclusively for that album.

The bands debut album for Kingsway Music on the Edge Records label, ‘No Rest: No Mercy’, would be released in 1993, and produced by Paul Hodson (Hard Rain / Bob Catley), hailed the band’s International popularity and saw it’s debut chart entry in the Japanese Import Charts at #48. This is the album that started it all for Stairway and is still in high demand today.

British heavy metal band ‘Stairway’ has released a new lyric video for the song ‘Reason Why’. The song is taken from their latest album “Power and Glory” which has been released in September. The track is also available at iTunes. The lyric video can be watched below.

NWOBHM covered a diverse range of bands and included Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Saxon and Motorhead. The UK band’s debut ‘No Rest : No Mercy’ (1993) was produced by Paul Hodson (Hard Rain / Bob Catley). This was followed by ‘Bleeding Heart’ (1999) and ‘On Hallowed Ground’ (2002). Then interest in the debut album began to take off and Stairway signed a deal with Retroactive Records to re-release the ‘No Rest: No Mercy’ album. They went on to release ‘The Other Side of Midnight’ (2006) and ‘Interregnum’ (2010). Continue reading »

NWOBHM covered a diverse range of bands and included Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Saxon and Motorhead. The UK band’s debut ‘No Rest : No Mercy’ (1993) was produced by Paul Hodson (Hard Rain / Bob Catley). This was followed by ‘Bleeding Heart’ (1999) and ‘On Hallowed Ground’ (2002). Then interest in the debut album began to take off and Stairway signed a deal with Retroactive Records to re-release the ‘No Rest: No Mercy’ album. The band now comprises Graeme Leslie (lead vocals & bass), Pete Jennens (lead guitar) and Andy Edwards (drums). They return in force with ‘Power and Glory’ (2016). Reflecting the fact that this is classic eighties metal, the artwork is by Rodney Matthews (Magnum, Praying Mantis, Asia).

Classic metal band Stairway from England has been busy making music since 1991. With six albums they have already gained a lot of experience. Their latest album “Power and Glory” has been released earlier this year. Later this month the band will play at the 2nd edition of Rock Alive in Enschede / the Netherlands. Heavy metal band Stairway from the UK just released a new song ‘Lucy Fuhr’ which appears on the upcoming album “Power and Glory”. The song is available for streaming below.

‘Power and Glory” is the follow up to “Interregnum” (2010).

Regarding the artwork the band recently said: “We’re proud to say with the artwork for the new album “Power and Glory” we had the honour of another excellent piece by Rodney Matthews (who also did “No Rest:No Mercy” and “Interregnum”).” Continue reading »
