m-glensobel2Alice Cooper drummer Glen Sobel — whose other credits include Vivian CampbellImpellitteri, Beautiful CreaturesSixx: A.M. and Paul Gilbert— will enter the studio on Monday, December 16 to begin tracking songs for Def Leppard and Last In Line guitarist Vivian Campbell‘s forthcoming solo record. Sobel is a member of Campbell‘s club band, Sir Sodoff & The Trainwrecks, which can be seen playing shows around the Los Angeles area.

Campbell revealed via his Facebook page that he is making a rock record which will contain “lots of guitar.” He adds: “I intend to sing [on the album]. However, I may ask a real singer to help out if I fail miserably at the demo stages.” Continue reading »

The event concluded with late-night set and Sobel joining the French house band for a cover of the Deep Purple classic Burn at 3 a.m. in front of a packed house.

Sobel also conducted a master class/clinic earlier in the afternoon, followed by a late-night performance where he played to tracks by Alice Cooper and former Michael Jackson guitarist Jennifer Batten, Continue reading »

Alice Cooper drummer Glen Sobel — whose other credits include Impellitteri, Vivian CampbellBeautiful CreaturesSixx: A.M. and Paul Gilbert— has uploaded drum-cam footage of the song Dirty Diamonds from the very last show of the 2012 Cooper tour in Indio, California. The concert marked the end of a six-month run, which saw Sobel missing five weeks in the middle due to a neck injury before returning at the beginning of the fall leg.

Cooper will host the 12th annual Christmas Pudding charity event this Saturday, December 8 at the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix. The event will see Alice and his band backing up and playing host to special guests Sebastian Bach, former Eagles guitarist Don Felder, and once again, Johnny Depp on guitar. Depp joined Alice and company on stage for eight songs in Los Angeles last Thursday at The Orpheum Theater. Drummer Glen Sobel has been forced to take a temporary leave of absence from the Alice Cooper band due to a persisitent neck injury. Taking over drum duties for Sobel is veteran drummer Jonathan Mover whose credits include Joe SatrianiFUEL and GTR, among many others.

Commented Alice Cooper: “Glen Sobel‘s been having some neck problems, and has been playing the shows in a lot of pain. Because of this, he needs to take a short break to heal. Luckily for us, and for you,Jonathan Mover (from the ‘Trash’ tour and the ‘Trashes The World’ live concert video) was available to help out on short notice. We rehearsed with Jonathan yesterday in New York City and we’re all excited about tonight’s show in Camden with him. We’re looking forward to having Glenback soon.”  Continue reading »

Alice Cooper drummer Glen Sobel, who has also worked with Sixx: A.M.Vivian Campbell and Beautiful Creatures, is debuting his newMapex MyDentity drum set on the current leg of the Alice Cooper “No More Mr Nice Guy 2012” tour.

Mapex recently filmed a promotional video of Glen showing off the new MyDentity line and how anyone can custom order kit details such as sizes and drum and hardware finish options via an online kit builder program.  Continue reading »
