Timōrātus is a one-man band from David Napier. Timōrātus started as a way to experiment with harsher sounds and learn more about music in general. Sticking to one specific genre or sound wasn’t interesting so the sound changed with every release as the experimentation continued.

The first couple releases (Afraid of the Light and Signs & Places) were both very much ambient or dark ambient synth driven pieces that worked more with texture than any sort of traditional music structure, staying in the instrumental realm. Continue reading »

“Reverentia” is a worship album that takes a different approach by adding rich, deep guitar drones and doom metal undertones to envelope the listener in the warmth and closeness of worship with God.

GrindTimōrātus is a one man band from David Napier. A fourth and last concept EP  is released today, and is available for FREE download now. The story is about a man going through the Black Plague and his battle with the time and loss of faith.’ The goal of Timōrātus is to ultimately bring honor and glory to God. I am a big sucker for concept albums so what I am doing is releasing a 4 [EP] set of metal genres that links together into a complete story of a man named Kafla Serlaro as he loses his faith and times of living through the Black Plague. DEATH_EPDavid Napier returns with part two of his black metal solo project TIMŌRĀTUS, continuing the story of Kafla Selaro and the struggles of life in the Dark Ages when loss was great in the times of the Black Plague.

For those wondering, TIMŌRĀTUS means full of reverence toward God, devout, describing David Napier’s goal of bringing “honor and glory to our savior Jesus Christ”.  The final project as a whole will consist of four ep’s , with Black being the first one released and now Death as the second release.  As In the first ep Black, the guitars and vocals overwhelm the other instruments through most of the songs, drums and bass guitar are noticeably decreased in the overall mix, which does detract from the songs.
