Writhe – “Writhe” (EP)

writhe-2016Here we have Writhe, a one-person project where all the music and lyrics are written by Sam Dishington. Also the art and layout are done by Sam Dishington.
Written, recorded and mixed by Sam Dishington and mastered by Jamie Marinos at Half Moon Productions. So as you can see; Sam Dishington is a busy little bee.
The genre is described as: Grind / Powerviolence / Metallic Hardcore. Well there you have it, an entire intro for this review in a nutshell. (This was all the information that I could find).

This album is written and recorded in just one day. The entire EP is only 4:43 minutes and ‘Failure’ is with 1:29 minutes the longest track. Tracks one and five are nameless.

Track one is a heavy intro, immediately followed by ‘Silent’, what’s in a name? Boy!, this is not silent at all. Grindcore to the max! Blastbeats all around but interestingly interspersed at the end by a more uptempo beat.

Next song ‘Malice’ the same story, brutal grindcore but with hardcore elements and a little bit of black metal in the mix.

‘Failure’, what can I say? No failure at all, gotta love the energy of this song.
And then we already have reached the last song which is also nameless, a kind of heavy outro, no grindcore at all.

I am truly impressed if you keep in mind that this album was written in just one day. Okay, I admit that it is not a long album, but nevertheless….
