‘More Than Bones’, the new Andy Maier-directed video from Demon Hunter, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band’s latest album “Peace”, which was made available alongside a companion LP, “War”, on March 1.

Frontman Ryan Clark told Kerrang! about ‘More Than Bones’: ” I was thinking of what an amazing thing music is, and the idea of preserving someone’s life beyond their death. There have been a lot of musicians’ deaths over the last few years that I’d started thinking about, whether that was Bowie or Prince or Waylon or Chris Cornell, and I thought, despite how tragic it is to lose those people, how awesome it is to have this catalog of music from each of those people. There might be people generations from now who listen to this music, and it really helps them and changes their life in some positive way. So ‘More Than Bones’ is basically saying that when I leave this earth, I’ll leave you more than bones — I’ll leave you all of my thoughts and all of my hopes and dreams and my desire to connect and resonate with people through this music.” Continue reading »

Demon Hunter have simultaneously released two albums of material that divides up their more melodic side from their heavier darker side in the albums War and Peace, both of which are filled with heavy riffs, strong vocals, and catchy hooks and choruses…essentially treating fans to two normal albums of material at once bound by the theme, “War in every breath / Peace in only death.”

For those who haven’t heard of Demon Hunter, the band was formed in 2000 by brothers Ryan and Don Clark who at the time were also in the chaotic Training for Utopia, which is another band worth checking out.  Over the years the band has released 10 albums, won numerous Dove Awards for their music, been featured on soundtracks, become a staple on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball, toured and played shows with some of the biggest bands (Ozzy, Kiss, Marilyn Manson, Gojira), headlined festivals like Rock the Desert and Uprise Fest, and even by 2010 had sold over 500,000 albums.  A regular on the Billboard charts, War and Peace were #7 and #8 n the Billboard current albums chart as of March 12, and #2 and #3 in the Hard Rock category.  As one might imagine, the band has gone through some lineup changes over the years, most notably in 2009 when brother Don Clark left the band for family and career reasons.  Since 2011, when Jeremiah Scott joined on rhythm guitar, the lineup has been stable and over the course of the band’s history, the guitar roles have been the ones most likely to change, with the lone exception of original drummer Jesse Sprinkle being replaced by Tim “Yogi” Watts in 2004. Similar to their last two albums, Outlive (2017) and Extremist (2014), War and Peace were produced by guitarist Jeremiah Scott and mixed by Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Queensrÿche, Hatebreed), who once again have perfectly captured the band’s metal heaviness that is balanced with the powerful melodies the band is known for. Frontman Ryan Clark said about “Ash”: ‘Ash’ is a no-frills, anthemic onslaught, berating our infatuation with fleeting possessions. It’s a reminder to myself as much as anyone else.

“I collect pretty much everything I couldn’t afford as a kid: skateboards, shoes, artwork, antiques… you name it. And I love this stuff. Still, I know I can’t ‘take it with me’ as they say.”

He added: “In classic Demon Hunter fashion, we wanted to ensure that ‘War’ had at least one faster thrash number in the vein of  Continue reading »

‘On My Side’, the new Andy Maier-directed video from the Christian metal band Demon Hunter, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band’s new album “War”, which will be made available alongside a companion LP, “Peace”, on March 1.

Frontman Ryan Clark said about the ‘On My Side’ clip: “[We tried to] keep things straightforward with regards to the overall approach. Though the video is strictly performance, we did have some fun by filming each setup the same way a number of times using different lighting scenarios in each. This meant performing it the exact same way (hand motions, body positioning) over and over, but ultimately allowed us to toggle between looks while maintaining the same general positioning, which gives a really cool effect in the end.” Continue reading »
