Although this album has been out for almost a year now, it was only uptill recently that I got my hands on it, and I immediately fell in love with it. Gary Lenaire, one of the founding member of the Tourniquet had been working on this album under the project name – Talking Snakes, with a number of featuring guest such as Bubby Lewis, Anna Sentina, Neil Swanson, Guy Ritter, Aly Frank and Andrijana Janevska. The album was released on the 29th of July 2017 and had been written, produced, engineered and mixed by Gary himself. The mastering and the album artwork was done by Pat Keane and Willie Frazier respectively.

Gary Lenaire has released 12 records, published over 100 songs worldwide, was nominated for six GMA (Dove) Awards, and received HM Magazine’s “Guitarist of the Year” award from 1994-1996. In context of this album, Gary quotes, “I don’t know what time is or if it exists at all. I have long felt that time, as perceived by humans, is an almost inescapable infatuation with the past and the future–longing for or regretting days gone by and anticipating or dreading the future. It is in that hypnotic daydream that we waste our experience, the actual present–reality as it happens. It is when we truly love that we lose all sense of time: In a song, a family gathering, meditation, prayer, a lover. In recording this record I found myself in that timeless space.” Continue reading »

‘Gazing at Medusa’ the new single from veteran metallers Tourniquet can be streamed below. The song appears on the forthcoming album, “Gazing at Medusa” which is scheduled to be released this summer via Pathogenic Records.

“It was really cool having Deen [Castronovo] on vocals for this track,” says Tourniquet drummer/songwriter Ted Kirkpatrick. “He just killed it, as he always does. Plus having Chris {Poland], one of my favorite guitarists, on lead kind of put it over the top.”

The single is available for purchase from bandcamp.

TOURNIQUET...

– a lifelong spiritual process by which a personal God, through the atoning blood, death, and resurrection of His only Son -Jesus Christ- can begin to stop the flow of going through life without knowing and serving our Creator. HE IS OUR TOURNIQUET. Continue reading »

Luke EasterTourniquet‘s vocalist from 1993 to 2015, recently completed a successful Indiegogo campaign to finance the release of his new solo project. The campaign closed at 117% of its goal, and Easter recently announced via social media that the CD was complete, and that all backer perks had been shipped.

Easter‘s new release, “The Pop Disaster”, marks a departure from the progressive tinged metal he had come to be known for from his long tenure as Tourniquet‘s vocalist, instead taking more of a hard rock/power pop approach.

“I’ve always been a pop/rock guy,” says Luke. “I know I was in a metal band for almost 23 years, but that’s really just one side of me. I love heavy music, but I’m a sucker for a well crafted melody with a big chorus. I grew up listening to Mötley CrüeBon JoviStryper and Ratt as much as I did to Metallica and Megadeth. This project has given me the chance to show that side of myself as a writer and performer.” Continue reading »

Luke Easter, who was Tourniquet‘s lead singer from from 1993 to late 2015, recently announced a new solo endeavor. As part of the band Tourniquet, he co-wrote a number of songs, released 10 CDs, four home videos/DVDs, and played numerous shows internationally. This is his first solo project, and it is slated for an early summer 2018 release.

Produced by Kris Kanoho (One Groove, Nomasterbacks), the record features a core group of musicians from the Christian hard rock and metal scene — David Bach (Guardian) on bass, Jesse Sprinkle (Poor Old Lu, Demon Hunter) on drums, and Josiah Prince (Disciple) on lead guitar. Additionally, the record features an appearance by former Stryper bass player Tim Gaines. The collection of all-new material was written by Easter, who says: “Up until now, I’ve been giving voice to someone else’s songs… bringing someone else’s musical vision to life. These songs are the closest I’ve come to something truly reflective of me. It’s a snapshot of who I am as a singer and songwriter at this point in time.” Continue reading »
