Rise Again’ is the new single from Symphony of Tragedy. Power Metal from Sweden band founded by Tomas Svedin, together with Tommy Johansson (ReinXeed/Sabaton) on vocals. About the new single they stated:

We have worked so hard with this track for a long period of time. This might be the one track that we are most proud of. It’s a mid-tempo Power Metal tune with high-pitched vocals about the hero The Starborn which unite a fallen nation after a war that brought the nation to the ground, making them rebuild their nation from ground up.. We hope you enjoy this piece!

This will also be the last single you will hear from us. The next time you see something from us we will have a full length album for you to enjoy!

Out of the ashes of ReinXeed comes Majestica to fill your ears with galloping fast drums, blazing riffs and solos and bass work that equals the complexity from the guitars.

Before joining Sabaton, guitarist/vocalist Tommy Johansson was busy with his own power metal band ReinXeed, but unfortunately as Sabaton grew, ReinXeed seemed to just fade away.  Now the band is back and known as Majestica, a nod to the 2010 ReinXeed album Majestic.

Given the tagline “Swedish symphonic power metal”, my expectations were pretty much set as to what I was going to hear when I fired this album up.  The band chose to make a video for the first track “Above the Sky” which shows the band playing the scarily fast power metal track on an airport runway.  Much along the lines of Dragonforce, the song is as much a vehicle to showcase the talents of the musicians as it is a regular song.  The very opening is even an amazing bass riff by Chris David.  As expected for the genre, vocals are clean and clear and show quite a bit of range from Tommy ReinXeed although the highest register pieces seem a bit forced and thin compared to the rest.  The song gallops along at breakneck speed with periodic perfect gang chorus sections, while all the time seeming to just set the stage for the inevitable trade-off guitar solos and drum and bass solo in this particular case. Swedish metallers Sabaton celebrated the release of their new album, “The Last Stand”, with a performance at their own festival, Sabaton Open Air. They not only had to say goodbye to their guitarist Thobbe Englund, but they also welcomed their new member Tommy Johansson (Golden Resurrection, ReinXeed).

The band commented: “Thank you Thobbe, welcome Tommy!

“Our guitar player Thobbe did his final concert with us on last Saturday’s very emotional show at the Sabaton Open Air festival.

“Celebrating the release of our new album while saying goodbye to a great friend is lots of mixed feelings. But the future is bright since this was not nearly our last stand. From now on, you will see Tommy Johansson playing guitars with Sabaton and we all look forward to see you on the road!”

Tommy added: “For me to be a part of the Sabaton family is a huge honor and I couldn’t be happier! The guys are awesome and among the nicest people you can meet. Continue reading »

Reinxeed – 1912

Who needs Celine Dion when you can have Tommy Johansson telling you all about the tragedy of the Titanic?

What is the first historical event you think of when I mention the year ‘1912’? The establishment of the Republic of China? Roald Admusen reaching the South Pole? The 3.000 cherry trees planted in Washington to symbolize the friendship between Japan and the US? The Summer Olympics in Sweden? The First Balkan War? It must have been Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’ that blocked the sinking from the Titanic from my memory. Why all these historical facts? Since the year 1912, with the tragedy of the Titanic as subject, is what Reinxeed has taken as starting point for their new album. Continue reading »
