Malchus 2014Roxx Records is very excited to announce their latest release, which we bring to you all the way from Poland. Please join them as we welcome Polish heavy metal band Malchus to the Roxx Records roster. Never ones to be confined to a traditional framework of heavy metal music, Malchus is an action movie for your ears! Hardcore-metal riffs interwoven with melodic transitions, light and dark themes blended together effortlessly across all of the tracks on their brand new Roxx Records debut entitled “The Evil House”. This brand new release brings big drums, big riffs, big hooks and some very catchy metal anthems, with each release this band just gets better and better!

“The Evil House” is a concept album which documents the dark descent of a young frustrated Pole’s soul, and the lyrics relate to his spiritual journey, while focusing on his everyday struggles against adversity. Malchus have been torch bearers for the Polish heavy metal music scene for the last 11 years, but on this, their latest and 4th full length release, we get the band’s first album recorded completely in the English language.  Continue reading »

Malchus 2014’10 years had to pass before releasing a studio cd that sounds so good. “The Evil House” is a music book in which each song constitutes a separate historical thread. Listening to the cd you will not fall into monotonny as heavy guitar sound is engaged with melancholic tune. Fast tempo that is broken by keyboard interlude is switched into slow heavy riffs. That’s just new Malchus.’

‘We’ve put a lot of effort and hard work into this cd.. Within a year we covered much more distance than Radoslaw Sikorski /but unlike him we paid for it with our own $/ so as to pursue our passion after our usual work. Due to constant changes of the rehearsal location (presently we’re stationed in Dębica) we have to practise at night getting home back late at nigh t- 2 am. We hope new Malchus will be to your liking.’ Continue reading »

Malchus Evil HouseSometimes bands change styles rather dramatically and Malchus falls into that category at least from my perspective.  When I last reviewed Malchus, it was late in 2012 and they had a split with another Polish band, Pospolite Ruszenie , the split Caput Mundi/Swiebodnosc.  On that split both bands shared one guest vocalist and played essentially folk metal.  Even though the entire project was in Polish, the music and songs were great.  Malchus definitely were more toward the melodic progressive death metal side of the spectrum of the two bands and on Dom Zly, they have taken the folk metal sounds out and kept the rest.

For those unfamiliar with Malchus and missed my previous review (which I highly recommend checking out, incidentally), the band is now in their tenth year.  Hailing from Przeworsk, Poland, the band was started by Radoslaw Solek (guitars, vocals).  Over the years, the band’s sound has evolved considerably, especially considering their 2006 Memento Mori demo that was punk rock.  Since that time melodic death metal has become the style of music the band has moved on to.  Then after recording an ep, the band solidified their lineup in 2009 by adding drummer Marcin Brozbar and recording the album Didymos.  Didymos went on to be picked up by Soudmass, which gained them distribution throughout Europe, Japan, and the US.  This exposure gained the band new followers and spots on tours with some more established bands including Polish goth metal legends, Closterkeller.  Since that time, the band has toured, Caput Mundi was re-released as a split by Nocturnal Mass and some long time band members have left and been replaced. Malchus 2014’77’ is another new track of Polish progressive melodic metal band Malchus and can be streamed in the clip below. The track appears on their upcoming album which carries the title “Dom Zły” (The Evil House). The album includes 10 tracks with a total playtime of 40 minutes.  “Dom Zły” (The Evil House) will be released on Dec. 15th.

Malchus is one of the bands who will perform at the  12th. edition of Elements of Rock, next year March 13-15. in Uster, Switzerland.

The new album of Malchus is full of powerful sounds with no less powerful lyrics. ‘I tried to reflect that heavy sound and band’s message graphically. Due to Radosław‘s suggestion the foreground figure on the cover is a XVI-th century physician dressed up in a protective gown worn during the times of plague, also known as ‘black death’. ‘Cover artwork of our new album “The Evil House”. We are currently in search of a publisher and hoping for a quick establishment of a cooperation in order to determine the final release date. ‘ Says frontman Radosław Sołek.
