Iron Savior – “Reforged Riding on Fire”

Legendary power metal band Iron Savior has re-recorded some of the band’s greatest songs in order to make sure the music in its best form is available to fans.

Formed in 1996 by ex-Helloween members Pat Sielck, Kai Hansen, and Blind Guardian drummer Thomen Stauch, Iron Savior is one of those bands who need little introduction to those familiar with European metal.  Since their self-titled debut in 1997, Iron Savior have released album after album of high quality power metal blending science fiction stories with the sounds of the New Wave of British Metal.  As has happened with most bands that have been around for over 20 years, personnel has changed quite a bit with Piet the lone remaining original member of the band, but this version has been around since at least Rise of the Hero in 2014 and operates as a well-oiled machine.

As with the other Iron Savior albums I’ve reviewed, this one proves to be a bit of challenge as well, simply because there are not enough superlatives available.  Continue reading »

German power metallers Iron Savior will release “Reforged – Riding On Fire” on December 8 via AFM Records. The disc contains re-recorded versions of the best and most popular songs Iron Savior has released so far. These 2017 re-recordings come with a much more powerful sound, of course, but the band managed to keep the songs’ original character and feel.

Iron Savior decided to re-record the material because the band’s early albums was not available anymore but a reissue was not possible due to legal reasons.

“We can’t re-release our albums from the Noise Records years in their initial form,” Iron Savior leader Piet Sielck says, “but we are free to re-record songs from these albums. We’ve approached this challenge with a lot of enthusiasm.” Continue reading »
