Enter Per Fredrik “PelleK” Asly, a brilliant Norwegian musician and composer. After the success of his “Bag of Tricks” album in 2012, he comes back stronger than ever with a full ensemble of great musicians to bring us to the essence of this review, his latest release, “Ocean of Opportunity”. PelleK has this to say about his latest work inside the cd cover,”…this album truly marks the beginning of a new era. By any account, this is a massive release, its epic and unique compositions are flawlessly executed, and put this album not only ahead of the game, but places this album and the band as one of the best things the progressive metal / power metal scene has to offer. In short they are poised for greatness if they continue along this path, and do not drop the ball. This is a concept album, but fear not, this is one of those concepts you can play all day long. PelleK band 2013PelleK, the band fronted by frontman Per Fredrik Pellek Åsly has released a new music video for ‘Northern Wayfarer”. The song is taken from their second album “Oceans Of Opportunity” which will be released tomorrow [May 10]. The video can be viewed in the youtube clip below.

PelleK band 2013Norway’s PelleK, the band fronted by Damnation Angels frontman Per Fredrik Pellek Åsly, is set to release the sophomore LP “Ocean Of Opportunity,” a new fully orchestrated conceptual release about the cultures and oceans of the world. The album will be released worldwide next week on May 10, 2013.  For the sophomore release, PelleK has become more of a band and less of a solo release for the singer. A preview clip for the release can be seen below.

PelleK – Bag Of Tricks

The name of PelleK should be known to many of you by now. Some of you might know him as he was a participant of the Norwegian TV show ‘The X Factor’ in 2009, in which he ended in the top 12. Or maybe you know him as the lead vocalist of Damnation Angels or The Anabasis. And if that all does not ring a bell yet, maybe this does: he has done a lot of covers of metal songs, which he placed on YouTube and got a total of over two million views on it. He, for example, did Stratovarius ‘Hunting High And Low’ and Kamelot’s ‘Center Of The Universe’. Together with Tommy Johansson (ReinXeed) he covered ‘The Look’ (Roxette) and Iron Maiden’s ‘Run To Hills’ (Walt Disney style) and they wrote the funny song ‘Nothing But Metal’.
