Jesus Christ – The Exorcist is a monumental project in Neal Morse’s already impressive discography. A Progressive Rock Opera 10 years in the making, it was written and produced by Morse and includes performances by Neal and an all-star cast of vocalists and musicians. Jesus Christ – The Exorcist will be released on June 14th on a double album set featuring about two hours of music that will encompass all the spectrums and genres Neal Morse is known for and will, of course, tell the Story of Stories. Good Friday sees the release of the new track ‘There’s A Highway’. Listen below.

When asked about what fans can expect sound wise from the album, Morse explains, “Oh, it is completely diverse. There are touching ballads, rousing ensemble pieces, classical elements and dramatic Broadway musical type songs as well. It is really meant to be listened and experienced all the way through as you would a play or an opera. I hope that people will experience it in that way because I think that’s where they will really find the power in this piece of music.” Continue reading »

Frontiers Music is honored to announce the signing of a monumental project entitled Jesus Christ – The Exorcist, a Progressive Rock Opera written and produced by legendary musician and singer Neal Morse with performances by Neal and an all-star cast of singers and musicians.

Neal explains, “Sometimes providence comes with a whisper; sometimes it comes with an unexpected phone call. A friend of mine who works in the music business called me from New York one day in 2008 and said “Hey man, a friend and I were listening to Jesus Christ Superstar last night and were saying, ‘Man, somebody ought to do a new rock opera based on the Jesus story.’ I told my friend, ‘I know the guy!'” He went on to tell me I ought to write an epic prog piece based on the gospels. With a New York accent he said, “Ya gotta do it!” I laughed and said, “Well, I’m busy right now, but I’ll think about it.” Over the next couple of months, I began to feel that “yes” inside and spent a few months writing the first draft. The strong sense that I was onto something continued to grow and the people that sang on the original version were really into it. However, my friend from New York, (Michael Caplan) shopped it around and a lot of people loved it, but it never found a home… until NOW! Again, the phone rang and it was Michael. He said, “You’re not gonna believe this, but I’ve got a company interested in the musical!” I replied, ‘”That’s great, ’cause I am in the middle of a rewrite as we are putting it on at Morsefest 2018 in a few months.” Very timely! The company is called Frontiers Music Srl and after some communication, we struck a deal! Cool! So, here we are… ready to record and release this collection of songs and themes that is very dear to my heart and I believe tells the greatest story ever told in a powerful, new way.” Continue reading »

Neal Morse has released a video for ‘Livin’ Lightly’. The song is opening track of his new solo album, “Life & Times,” which will be released on February 16th on Radiant Records via Metal Blade Records/SONY on all digital outlets, as well as CD and vinyl. The video can be watched below below.

Widely regarded as one of the world’s leading progressive rock (“prog”) musicians, there is now no doubt that Neal Morse is a “big success,” but his desire to move people through his music burns brighter than ever. Now in his mid-fifties and his children grown up, there is a sense on Life & Times that Morse is looking around and taking stock.

“I’ve come through a lot of difficult times and I’m in a fairly content place now,” he says. “You can feel that on some of the songs.” Much of this ‘acoustic-orientated, singer/songwriter’ album was written while he was travelling around the world on The Road Called Home tour in 2017, with some of the songs being inspired by the places he visited, while others are from spending time with his family. nealmorseband2016_638The journey of Neal Morse has seen three decades of musical accomplishments, the latest being the inception of The Neal Morse Band. Morse has forged many relationships over the years with his other bands, Spock’s Beard, Flying Colors and Transatlantic. However, the most compelling and fruitful efforts have been those with drummer Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Twisted Sister, ex Dream Theater).

Now the current lineup of The Neal Morse Band — Morse, Portnoy, bassist Randy George, keyboardist Bill Hubauer and guitarist Eric Gillette — brings forth “The Similitude Of A Dream”, a concept album to be released November 11 on Radiant Records via Metal Blade Records/Sony.

This will be the eighth studio album with Morse, Portnoy and George, and the second as a true collaboration with this current lineup. A lyric video for the song “Overture” is now available below. Continue reading »
