Swiss folk metallers Eluveitie will release their new album, “Ategnatos”, on April 5 via Nuclear Blast. The cover artwork for the disc was created by Travis Smith and can be seen below.

The band states: ‘Ategnatos’ probably became our most organic album by all accounts. It is the result of a thoroughly intuitive process, where we gave creativity full scope. And during this process quite some back-to-the-roots developments emerged in diverse aspects. Many a riff off ‘Ategnatos’ reminds on the guitar work on ‘Slania’. Following our gut feeling, we brought the mixing duties back to Jens Bogren‘s Fascination Street studios, where our Nuclear Blast debut was produced. And regarding the album artwork, it soon became very clear to us that we’d love to work with the fabulous Travis Smith again, who already created the front covers of our albums ‘Spirit’ (14 years ago!) and ‘Everything Remains As It Never Was’. And we’re honestly excited with the result! The front cover shows a spectacular scenery in central Switzerland, a so-called ‘vulva cave’, as it was sought to mark sacred rites of fertility and celebrations of life in ancient times! The artwork mystically and beautifully expresses the ‘Ategnatos’‘s very core and essence! Once again, it was a pleasure to work with Travis!”

Recordings for “Ategnatos” took at New Sound Studio with their engineer of choice Tommy Vetterli. Continue reading »

Switzerland’s new mystic sound force Cellar Darling (feat. former Eluveitie members), Anna Murphy, Merlin Sutter and Ivo Henzi – frontwoman Anna has the following to say:

So it‘s been a little over a year since we officially started our new band and things have been fantastic. Not only did we write, record and release music that is very special to us and has fully satisfied our creative needs, we are soon off to do what we love most – touring. We feel very privileged and proud that we can visit Russia very soon and share stages with Delain & Lacuna Coil for the next couple of weeks/months and it is especially thanks to all of you and your massive support that this music-filled year has been exactly what it should have been.

What I personally enjoy most is witnessing how many Cellar Darling fans not only enjoy the music, but have a deep connection to it and understand what it‘s meant to convey. It‘s the biggest honour you can receive as a songwriter and we really hope to see as many of you as possible on our coming tours! Continue reading »

Switzerland’s new mystic sound force Cellar Darling (feat. former Eluveitie members) has become unstoppable! After the release of their debut album “This Is The Sound”, Anna Murphy, Merlin Sutter and Ivo Henzi have relentlessly played festival shows and even an exclusive concert with Evanescence in Pratteln and their chart success (#16 in the Swiss album charts, #19 in the UK Rock Charts…) only spurred them on. So this autumn, the founders of the New Wave of Folk Rock will not only support Delain on several dates, but also join the Italian Gothfathers Lacuna Coil on their extensive European tour!

Cellar Darling states: “This Is The Sound has been out for a month, and we’re at a complete lack of words. We’re incredibly thankful for glowing reviews, for video views and comments beyond our wildest hopes, for amazing first festival shows, and most importantly, for the deluge of awesome feedback from the best fans in the world.

Now we have one priority, and one priority only: getting back on the road, and making it our mission to visit each and every one of our fans to celebrate our music live together. We’re already excited about hitting the road with Delain in the fall, after premiering our club show with two dates in Switzerland, and are proud and happy to announce that we’ve added another 27 shows with none other than the amazing Lacuna Coil!” Continue reading »
