Impellitteri‘s music video for the song ‘Phantom Of The Opera’ can be seen below. The track is taken from Impellitteri‘s latest album, “The Nature Of The Beast”, which was released in October via Frontiers Music.

Chris Impellitteri told Guitar World: “‘The Phantom of the Opera’ is a song I have wanted to remake since I was a kid. Yes, I realize that other bands like Nightwish have also covered it, as well as Iron Maiden having a song with the same title, and I respect both artists immensely, but our version of Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s masterpiece is very much Impellitteri.”

“When we created our musical arrangement for this song, our collective band vision was to basically take the phantom on a wild musical ride through Hell! We wanted to turn the song into a speed/power metal type song. I will say our version can seem fairly challenging to play as a guitarist due to the various complex scale sequences, modes and speed at which we are playing. At the same time, the lead vocals are quite brutal on our singer, Rob Rock, as he had to sing both the male tenor part as well as the female vocal part, which resides in the alto and soprano ranges. It’s no secret that I love power metal; Finnish veterans Stratovarius a firm favourite. And so, when the first few bars of “Hypocrisy”, the first song on Impellitteri’s new album “The Nature of the Beast”, rang out, I was enthralled. Add to this lyrics that paint the world in dark hues, and you’ve got something captivating. Chris Impellitteri is a lauded lead guitarist, and is recognised in the media as one of the fastest guitarists in the shred style. Him, Marty Friedman and Paul Gilbert; all in the same league. On this album, Rob Rock is our “master of ceremonies”, and man, can he wail! His falsetto is perfection. Listen to the refrain, “Run for your life…” and you’ll know what I mean. The rhythm machine is anchored by James Pulli on bass, and propelled ever forward by Jon Dette on drums. Phew! This album is unrelenting.

The first couple of songs introduce the villains: there is the devil, the movie star, the werewolf, and the Phantom of the Opera. “Wonderworld” presents the listener with a future dystopia, a surveillance state bent on controlling the minds of civilians: “Computers taking over for you… Dependence on the virtual machine.” It made me think of George Orwell’s terrifying future visions in his book, “1984”. At the “Gates of Hell” a war is waged to end all wars! Continue reading »

Impellitteri‘s music video for the cover version of the Black Sabbath classic ‘Symptom Of The Universe’ can be seen below. The song is taken from Impellitteri‘s new album, “The Nature Of The Beast”, which is released yesterday (Friday, October 12) via Frontiers Music Srl.

Chris Impellitteri states: “To all of our heavy metal friends around the world, we hope you enjoy our version of Black Sabbath‘s ‘Symptom Of The Universe’. We have always wanted to re-create this magical riff and song as it really inspired us musically. This type of song can be tricky as you want to respect the integrity of the original music, but at the same time you want to take the song in a new direction and make it your own! We obviously ‘Impellitterized’ the song and added lots of haunting melodies, screaming vocals, shredding guitar solos, walking bass lines, and thrash-style drumming (but what would you expect from Impellitteri, ha ha!)

“We sincerely hope the great Tony IommiOzzy OsbourneGeezer Butler and Bill Ward enjoy our version of ‘Symptom Of The Universe’ as well as their fans!” Continue reading »
