raised from deathAs I have said in previous reviews, I struggle to bend my ears around the sound of metal-core how ever good it is at times, it might help sometimes when its infused with a bit of hard-core, but still I have strong anti-sentiments towards the genre, and its hard to be completely non-influenced by that when reviewing bands.

So presented to me for review is the band Raised From Death with their self titled EP release. To let you a little more on the band these guys are pretty serious about their relationship with Jesus Christ, and in their facebook biography do not split hairs about it. “Through his love and forgiveness he gave us new life, hope and a new perspective. This experience is what we want to share through our music, live shows and our lives with those who are still looking for hope. This is why Raised From Death is not just a band but a personal invitation for you to be “raised from death” as well. We hope that our songs will inspire you in that way.” – Raised From Death (Facebook band page). They describe themselves as a worship/hardcore/metal-core band. There is no doubt that is clearly what they are.So that will give a clear perspective on their lyrical content. Continue reading »

Where does hope come from when it seems like there is none? We of Raised From Death found the answer to this question in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through his love and forgiveness he gave us new life, hope and a new perspective. beyondBeyond the Bridge is a progressive rock/metal band from Germany. The band consists of six professional musicians [amongst them is Herbie from Sinbreed/ex Seventh Avenue]. Musicians who wholeheartedly stand behind their exceptional and sophisticated music. Withal, the virtuosic mastery of their instruments is never the aim but the origin of their journey on which they always entrain their listeners. For Beyond the Bridge, the contents of their music, the story of every song, the compositions and arrangements, are always a part of something bigger – a total work of art shining over the borders of different genres and daring to defy conventions. A high ambition which they succeed to embrace on their debut album ‘The Old Man and the Spirit’. Below an Interview with guitarist & founder Peter Degenfeld-Schonburg.

TMR: The past few months have been very tough/hard for you all [the unexpected passing of Simon], how are things going nowadays? Continue reading »

The Feel Good Drag hails from Cologne, Germany. This surf/grunge rock band consists of three members: Molly, Sebastian, and Martin. They recently released a three piece demo, which can be downloaded for free on Bandcamp.

First of all, I feel that this band should have been more original and not taken their name from a song recorded by Anberlin in 2008. It doesn’t give me the impression that they will surprise their fans with fresh, new material in the future. (Not to mention, it does make me inclined to compare their music to Anberlin’s).That grievance stated, now onto reviewing the music. Continue reading »
