mustaineellefsonpromo_638In a brand new interview with Australia’s Glam Adelaide, Megadeth bassist David Ellefson spoke about his relationship with the band’s mainman, Dave Mustaine, and how it was affected by Mustaine‘s conversion to Christianity.

‘As far as faith goes, it brings people together,’ Ellefson responded. ‘It has as far as Megadeth goes anyway; it’s given us a common menu to read from. The faith part of it has helped in a really cool way; it’s a commonality for us.’

He continued: ‘I believe that there’s a fundamental idea of God inside each of us, however you choose to understand it. It’s made things so much better for us — our music, lives and everything else, actually.’

Ellefson, who has lived through the sex, drugs and rock and roll lifestyle associated with the music industry, also offered a message for those going through a tough time right now. Continue reading »

Speaking about why he chose Australia as the first country in which to do a spoken-word tour, Ellefson told Spotlight Report: ‘The idea of doing a spoken-word tour came from an Australian concert promoter, and I loved it. We started to talk about it last year. Ironically, it was right around the time we were scheduled to be here with Soundwave.’

He continued: ‘I’ve never done spoken word before.

The night will also feature a bass demonstration and audience Q&A which will allow fans to delve deeper into all things Megadeth and David’s autobiography ‘My Life With Deth’ a story about the complex history of the band.

david ellefsonIn a brand new interview with Spotlight Report, Megadeth bassist David Ellefson spoke about how life has changed for the band following the recent departures of drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Chris Broderick.

“It is obviously going to be different without them,” he said. “We spent five years together with them in that lineup; that is a long time. We did multiple live albums with them, two studio albums, [and] we toured together. So it’s a bit like some family members are gone. Especially through the holidays, I’ve kinda been a little sad about it.

“I realize that they wanted to move on to something else, and I support them as my friends, but selfishly, I’m definitely going to miss them, for sure. Continue reading »

david ellefsonMegadeth bassist David Ellefson says that the band will spend much of 2015 off the road working on a new studio album and “re-evaluating” its future following the recent departures of longtime Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Chris Broderick.

Ellefson, who was part of Megadeth‘s classic lineup from 1983 to 2002 before rejoing the group in early 2010, is preparing to make a couple of appearances with Metal Allegiance, a project that was described in a recent press release as “a diverse group of metal legends interacting and performing together on the same stage.”

While promoting Metal Allegiance‘s upcoming concerts on this week’s edition of “The Classic Metal Show” — in a joint interview with fellow Metal Allegiance performers Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Dream Theater,) and Alex Skolnick (Testament) — Ellefson spoke about Megadeth ‘s future plans and how they affect his ability to get involved in outside projects away from his main band.
