AILD 2012With just a matter of days to go until As I Lay Dying were meant to hit the highways of North America for a tour with Killswitch Engage, the band have announced that they will no longer be performing as scheduled. With their vocalist facing a lengthy prison sentence, the rest of the band have decided to lay low, rather than push on with a replacement.

‘Tim Lambesis’ Pleads Not Guilty In Murder-For-Hire Case

lambesiscourtcloseAccording to The San Diego Union-Tribune, As I Lay Dying’s frontman Tim Lambesis, who is accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife, pleaded not guilty earlier yesterday [Thursday, May 9] to a felony charge of solicitation of murder and was ordered held on $3 million bail. He faces nine years in state prison if convicted.

At Lambesis‘ arraignment in Vista Superior Court in Vista, California, Deputy District Attorney Claudia Grasso said that the musician told someone at a gym that he wanted his wife dead. He allegedly met with an undercover agent posing as a hitman, who asked Lambesis if he wanted his wife gone, and Lambesis replied, “Yes, that’s what I want.” Lambesis then gave the agent an envelope containing $1,000 in cash with detailed instructions — including pictures of his wife, her address and the code to get through a gate and dates when the “hit” could take place; when he had his children, saying that would be his alibi on how to kill his estranged wife. As-I-Lay-DyingAs I Lay Dying members Jordan Mancino [drums], Phil Sgrosso [rhythm guitar, backing vocals], Nick Hipa [lead guitar, backing vocals] and Josh Gilbert [bass, clean vocals] have commented on the arrest of their singer, Tim Lambesis, for allegedly hiring someone to kill Tim‘s estranged wife.

Lambesis was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday [May 7] around 2 p.m. at a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Oceanside, California, according to San Diego Sheriff’s Department. He was charged with solicitation of another to commit murder of his wife, who resides in Encinitas. tim_labesis-225x300According to FOX 5 San Diego and Reuters, singer Tim Lambesis of San Diego metallers As I Lay Dying was arrested for allegedly hiring someone to kill his estranged wife.

Lambesis, 32, was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday [May 7] around 2 p.m. at an Oceanside business, according to San Diego Sheriff’s Department.

He was charged with solicitation of another to commit murder of his wife, who resides in Encinitas.

The investigation began after Lambesis contacted an undercover detective on May 2 to kill his wife, according to deputies. Continue reading »

Disarm The Descent is Killswitch Engage‘s first album with original singer Jesse Leach at the vocal helm since 2002′s now-classic, genre-defining Alive or Just Breathing. Leach returned to the band in January 2012 after a decade-long absence. Awakened, the sixth album from As I Lay Dying, has been released Sept. 25  2012 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was produced by Bill Stevenson, who has played drums for both the Descendents and Black Flag and is one of the most highly renowned producers in rock. His production credits include work on records by Rise Against, NOFX, Propaghandi, The Casualties and many more. The album was mixed by Colin Richardson  [Machine Head, Napalm Death, Slipknot].
