The Surtur Rising Europe Autumn Tour 2011 has been landed in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. This time Amon Amarth brought As I Lay Dying and Septic Flesh with them.
We decided to skip Septic Flesh due to their anti-Christian imagery and lyrics and because off the long drive, if we could make it on time for them we would have to skip dinner.
So the little weird combination of bands made by Metal Blade Records resulted in a pretty diverse audience this time. From long haired and bearded man to the more metalcore kids dressing more colorful.
When we arrived we had to hurry a little bit because As I Lay Dying was already playing. It was my first time at the biggest stage of the Effenaar. The entrance of the room was a little bit on a weird place but it worked. Now back to As I Lay Dying. The As I Lay Dying fans at the front where partying along. But also most of the long haired man and women where nodding along. As I Lay Dying played mostly songs from ‘An Ocean Between Us’ and ‘The Powerless Rise’. The pit gets a little bit smaller at the end of their set. But when Tim asks for a wall of death when they play their last song their set ends with a nice climax.

So it was time for the Viking themed death metal from Amon Amarth. The stage fitted totally into the artwork from their last cd and it looked really good. The setlist was also mostly from their last album. The sound was a little flat at the beginning but was better after a few songs. Amon Amarth played really good. But it wasn´t really Johan´s night his voice could be better and his talks between songs missed a little bit inspiration. But who cares everybody was headbanging and partying along. After a long set of 1,5 hours it was time to go home. It was a good night!
