Michael Sweet, frontman for the legendary hard rock band Stryper, will release a new full-length solo album, “I’m Not Your Suicide”, and his first autobiography, “Honestly: My Life And Stryper Revealed”, on May 6 via BIG3 Records.
‘What does “I’m Not Your Suicide” mean? No matter what someone may say or do to you to try to belittle and beat you down, always remember that it’s a season and through the strength that you have and that God gives to you, rise above and remember there is a long life and a great, perfect, beautiful plan for you. You’re not their suicide (mentally, physically, spiritually or emotionally). You have purpose and that purpose will shine powerfully, beyond the bullying. So, if someone try to keep you down or beat you down, remember these words – “I’m Not Your Suicide”: “I’m Not Your Suicide” They say that time can heal the pain, the scars Forgive, forget – that only goes so far You were someone I opened my heart to Till I asked you for help, you became someone else (Chorus) I was sanctified – I used to feel justified Only to be crucified, by you – by you My life has just begun, I’m standing in the shining sun I’m not gonna run and hide, lay down and die No I’m Not Your Suicide The stones you throw might bruise my bones, my skin Reap what you sow, the truth will show in the end I won’t break under pressure – I wouldn’t give you that pleasure (Chorus) I was sanctified – I used to feel justified Only to be crucified, by you – by you My life has just begun, I’m standing in the shining sun I’m not gonna run and hide, lay down and die No I’m Not Your Suicide (Bridge) Are you so pitiful that you want me to be?’
With the upcoming and long-overdue solo album, Sweet is finally delivering the project fans have been patiently waiting for. Produced by Sweet himself, “I’m Not Your Suicide” includes special appearances by Tony Harnell [TNT], Kevin Max [DC-Talk, Audio Adrenaline] Chris Jericho [Fozzy], Doug Aldrich [Whitesnake], Electra Mustaine [daughter of Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine] and Stryper bandmates Robert Sweet and Timothy Gaines. Legendary drummer Kenny Aronoff [Chickenfoot] played on the record as well.
