‘Sevendust’ – Drum Tracking Has Officially Started for The New Album

Sevendust‘s Morgan Rose has started laying down drum tracks for the band’s new album for an early 2018 release. The follow-up to 2015’s “Kill The Flaw” is being produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette, who has previously worked with Alter Bridge and Slash, among others.

Sevendust‘s new disc will be the group’s first for Rise Records, the Oregon-based metal and hard rock label which was purchased by BMG in 2015.

Craig Ericson, founder of Rise Records, said in a statement: “Signing Sevendust is definitely one of the highlights of my career. I’m honored to work with an artist with a legacy as great as theirs, and I’m really excited to work with them on the forthcoming album.”

Sevendust guitarist John Connolly added: “For Sevendust, it was important to find a label that understood where we’ve been and have some new ideas and strategies on where we can go. Through our twenty years playing together, we have garnered the best fans in the world that have become our extended family. Rise from the very beginning explained a very unique game plan to us that we feel like is going to help us celebrate our die-hard Sevendust fans and expose us to new ones. There is an excitement we feel just knowing the Rise team is going to be behind this new chapter of our career.”

Sevendust singer Lajon Witherspoon spoke about the songwriting process for the band’s new album in a recent interview with The Washington Times. He said: “It is amazing. We have been sending music back and forth. Things are starting to come together. The magic happens when we all get in one room. It’s like we are those 17-, 18- and 19-year-olds [again], doing what they love. And that’s music.”

Witherspoon also talked about Sevendust‘s longevity, saying: “We love each other, man. We’re brothers. So we fight. Somebody will call somebody else a douchebag. At the end of the day, we look at how far we’ve come and realize it would be foolish for us to ever take this for granted. We have a family. And not just a family at home, the family that has grown up with us and supported us through the years. We can’t let them down.”

Sevendust last year received its first-ever Grammy nomination after two decades together as a band. ‘Thank You’, the debut single from “Kill The Flaw”, got the nod for “Best Metal Performance”.

Sevendust is comprised of Witherspoon, the dual-guitar attack of Connolly and Clint Lowery, and the driving rhythm section of Vince Hornsby on bass and Morgan Rose on drums.
