Rock Legends King’s X to Enter The Studio Next Month to Record First New Album in Over a Decade

King’s X will enter a Los Angeles-area studio in mid-April to begin recording its new album. The follow-up to 2008’s “XV” is tentatively due in late 2019 via the Australian independent record label Golden Robot Records and its partners in the U.S., Europe and Japan.

Drummer Jerry Gaskill told SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation” that King’s X was “still writing” music for its new disc, while bassist/vocalist Doug “dUg” Pinnick added that he has “about 30 songs” written for possible inclusion on the band’s upcoming effort.

“XV” was King’s X‘s highest-charting album since 1996’s “Ear Candy”.

In 2005, VH1 included KING’S X in its list of “100 Greatest Artists In Hard Rock.”

In a 2016 interview with The Sacramento BeePinnick said that KING’S X wasn’t in a hurry to work on new material.

“We have a lot of songs to choose from [for performances], and that’s probably why we haven’t done a record in so long,” he said. “In a way, we’ve kind of pulled all the tricks out of our bag.

“To this day, we’re perceived by our fans and outsiders as some huge thing even though we never had a really big hit,” he added. “I just think we weren’t considered a good flavor, so we were left on the shelf.”

KING’S X was sidelined by several health scares in recent years, including Pinnick‘s two hernia operations and two near-fatal heart attacks suffered by Gaskill.
