I wanna be GodFresno, CA. rock band, GRYP (Pronounced grip) just released their new EP “I Wanna Be God” through Flesh and Blood Records. The album is GRYP’s 1st new CD in over 10 years this summer! All songs can be streamed below.

GRYP has resurrected! In the early 2000’s, GRYP was ascending through ranks of the Active Rock and Christian Rock charts all over the world, was named one of Metal Edge Magazine‘s “Bands to Watch Out For”, and getting to play shows and festivals across the U.S. with bands like P.O.D., 311, Thousand Foot Krutch, Papa Roach, Finger Eleven, and many more. Everything seemed to be going right for the Fresno, California band but the band split just as GRYP was picking up steam. Singer, Curtis Shamlin, went back to teaching and eventually became a middle school principal. He has since returned to his rock roots resurrecting GRYP. Rounding out the band is Andy Johnson – Drums,  Robert Gonzalez – Bass, and Jimmy Matcham – Guitars.

The band’s previous CD “GRYP (Black)” is available on Pandora, Itunes, Spotify, Jango, and where ever digital music is sold. It was produced by W Records/Walden Media, recorded by Stoker (Drummer for Dexy’s Midnight Runners, “Come on Eileen”), was mixed by Randy Staub (Five Finger Death Punch, Seether, Thousand Foot Crutch, P.O.D) also mixed by Ben Grosse (Breaking Benjamin, Sevendust, Chevelle), mastered by Robert Vosgien (Megadeth, Sick Puppies, Evans Blue), was represented by manager, Tim Gardner (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age) and Peter Riedling (Rage Against the Machine). With new EP ” I Wanna Be God” and tour, GRYP is poised to make a pretty big dent in the scene once again.

Get ready! GRYP is sicker than ever!

GRYP is now booking for the West Coast. If you are a promoter or venue and would like to book GRYP, Facebook Curtis Shamlin or email management@therocknrollprincipal.com
