Pop Punk/Rock band A Step Ahead recently released a new single ‘Pretty When’, the music video for that song can be watched below. The single can be purchased at iTunes:

The single deals with the inescapable feeling of being in the ‘friend zone’, as bassist Matt Seli explains: “falling for someone who just doesn’t have those same feelings for you is tough to completely get over, and this is song goes out to all our fans who are going through something like that right now. In the end it gets better, we promise, and this song and video show that as our dude finds the one he is supposed to be with at the end.”

Catchy, devoted, and always ready for a party, A Step Ahead isn’t just a band of tenure and experience, but a band with the tangibles in place to set them up for continued success during this, their “comeback.”

Formed during the winter of 2008 in the suburbs of Phoenix, AZ, the boys of A.S.A. have released four studio EP’s with current lead singer, Nick Johnson, embarked on numerous tours spanning more than 50 cities across the United States, met thousands of incredible supporters, and continue to display their best work with each new release and live performance. “In one simple word, A Step Ahead means ‘family’,” according to Johnson. “We started this band just wanting to play a few shows. I could have never imagined that we would tour the country, make so many incredible memories, and continue this success for so many years.”

Upon listening to A Step Ahead, subtleties of pop-punk greats such as New Found Glory, Blink-182, The Starting Line, Hit the Lights, Bowling for Soup, and Simple Plan are sure to make their respective appearances in the band’s music style. Within their lyrics, A Step Ahead aims to bring a positive influence on their fans, not only in addressing the importance of friends, family, dedication, and self-empowerment, but in relating to everyday struggles and emphasizing that no one is truly alone. “Even in the most serious of circumstances, we like to find the positives,” says guitarist and vocalist, Colin Becker. Of course, there’s those songs just about having fun as well.

In addition to the countless local shows A Step Ahead has played over the years, the band has also toured the country on multiple self-booked/planned/promoted runs (including the xEasycorex.net tour with In Her Own Words in 2011-2012) as well as tagging along the 2011 Vans’ Warped Tour with Arkaik Clothing where they promoted their EP, “In It To Win It,” selling over 1,500 hard copies during the summer alone. The band played the 2012 Warped Tour stop in Dallas, TX on the DigiTech stage. Recent festivals include 2017’s Pot of Gold Festival alongside acts Flogging Molly, NOFX, Less Than Jake, We the Kings, X Ambassadors, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Death Cab for Cutie. The band has played direct support for bands such as Four Year Strong, Sleeping with Sirens, A Day to Remember, Ann Arbor, Veara, A Loss for Words, Of Mice & Men, and I Set My Friends on Fire, among others since their inception.

In 2017, the band has caught the ear of the Phoenix-metro area’s ALT AZ 93.3 radio station where they have won all three of their appearances on the Homegrown With Mo Show, a weekly showcase of local artists. This has brought multiple invites to the station’s monthly live local showcase and connections with one of the most popular alternative rock stations in the valley.
