aspiration_2015Aspiration with members from Dalit, Stronghold, Grand Lux and others, is a progressive metal act hailing from Kristiansand, Norway. Their new EP “Babel” is released late last month. A teaser can be streamed in the soundcloud-player below.

Aspiration was formed in the late summer of 2000. The members at the time attended the same University College and had a common interest in music and bands.
The first few years were spent on songwriting, rehearsing and experimentation with material and genres. After what led to replacing two bandmembers, the band stabilized in terms of musical expression and lineup around 2004.

The band recorded several demos, EP’s and one album, and played a few warm-up gigs for local bands in addition to festival gigs (Southern Discomfort being one) After 2004, the band-members were scattered around in Norway, and the ambitions for the bands were somewhat put on ice. Aspiration was however never intended to be put away for good, and the band started working on new material in 2009. After a slow process, the band wanted some of the material to be set in stone. The material was recorded and mixed in its entirety by Aspiration and mastered by JM Mastering in London. The result is “BABEL.”

The band consists of Audun Bay Gundersen, Jon Ivar Larsen, Joachim Sehl, Stein Vorhaug & Cato Gulaker.
